Well of course I'm bitter about the whole valentine's day thing... Even aside from like not ever having a valentine, the concept of it just fucking sickens me, but anyway...
I think it's a WONDERFUL, amazing idea... ANd as for her boyfriend, it's not up to you to hold back so as not to highlight his shortcomings. If your gift "outdoes" his, it's his problem, not yours. You are not responsible for his worth/ lack thereof as a boyfriend. If you really are concerned about it, then give her the gift after V-Day, as just a gift... not associated with the holiday that I"m sure was created by the devil... Why do people need a designated day to show they love someone? Is that really love?
Anyway, no matter what, most gifts will outdo a cake... I'm not big on those gifts that you can't save forever... If you don't eat hte cake, well its' gonna get moldy and gross... Not exactly the symbol of togetherness I would ever hope for from a boyfriend. And flowers... flowers are nice like randomly, but as a gift? I dunno.
Oh I'll stop.

I think it's a sweet, lovely idea, however odds are the boyfriend will be pissed. Obviously there is alot of history between you two that he cannot even attempt to compete with. I believe she will love it, think how great you are but you may ruin the day for the two of them. Reading your poetry and your feelings for her, that may not be such a bad thing.

It's not a horrible idea Immortal, it's very nice. Since you give her little things already, I think it makes it even more 'ok' to give her the tape.
I keep hoping that she WILL get a clue someday...
if she doesn't, she's letting a good person slip away....always remember that.
Good Luck Immortal, I'll send some positive vibes your way for tomorrow.......

You know Immortal, I think homemade tapes are very cool. I've always made them, it's especially nice when you get a mix that means something to the person you're making it for. So much thought is put into it, you want it to be just right.
It's funny we're talking about this, just a few nights ago my husband rented the film "High Fidelity" with Jon Cusak....
you have to see it, there's a whole bit about the Importance of the homemade mixed tape!
Check it out!
and YES! It's definately better than a Hallmark with someone elses Homogonized words!/images/smile.gif

Don't hold back, Immortal...That is such a sweet idea. Gifts from the heart are the ones that really mean the most.
Give her that cd, dammit. Make her see what she's missing out on.
...Hope she'll open her eyes & see what's right in front of her.
Good luck!!!
