I am pretty bored today. It's raining and I am waiting to go to a job interview. I thought about this on the trip here to my parents' house and thought I would put it up here. What is ONE album that you have that you think everyone else should know about? Don't make it obvious - this is sort of a piece of coal that everyone usually passes up sort of deal. Mine is The Watchmen - Silent Radar. Someone here, I think maybe Meghan, told me about them a few years ago (two i think) and I love them. In the move I found my old cd booklet and popped this record in and realized how much I used to listen to it. Great songs. Here is the tracklist. Check it out if you have the money or the time - I am currently still borrowing this one and the In Trees import from KaZaA -
The Watchmen - SILENT RADAR
1. Stereo
2. Anyday Now
3. I'm Waiting
4. Rooster
5. Silent Radar
6. Do It
7. He's Gone
8. Say Something
9. On My Way
10. Top Of The World
11. Come Around
12. Brighter Hell
--dominic--
PS Anyday Now is my favorite song on the record
The band reminds me of a local band from the Morgantown area - Virginia Coalition - if you have the chance download Spare Change by them...sorry
done now

hi...
well, they have a girl singer (although one of the guys in the band does a lot of vocals also)....all guy band. they are kind of alterna-pop i guess. very catchy tunes... she has a very unique voice. they were on subpop records (i dont even know if they are still together, but i have 3 of their albums and i love them all)
i am fine today i guess.

Wow, I haven't thought about them for years. They're from my neck of the woods. That is a good CD! :)
I would recommend Cody Chesnutt's The Headphone Masterpiece.
Killer lo-fi stuff. Enjoy. :)

I met the Watchmen lead singer when I used to work around College and Bathurst in Toronto.. He's a cocky asshole who thinks he's some real hotshot superstar. Well, think again idiot. They had this new album out and this new song which drove me up the fucking wall, something like Absolutey Anytime (or Anywhere, or something to that effect)... So fucking annoying. You see, that's the problem. My Life Is a Stereo is a decent tune, but after I met the fucker it really just turned me off altogether. Oh well.

Silent Radar is a great album. both times that I've seen the Watchmen they've put on a fantastic show.
"Between The Bridges" is (in my opinion) the best Sloan album and that is the one that you should have. each song goes into the next. download the song "Delivering Maybes" for a taste.

I only have one Watchmen record, "Brand New Day," 'cause "Zoom" is on it and that's my favorite song by 'em. The cover art for the record is really shitty, though.
Hmmm, to go back to the initial question ... Holly McNarland's last record, "Home is Where My Feet Are" is really good. The Dears' "No Cities Left" is nicely diverse. 54-40 is band you'd probably want to check out. A handful of years ago, Hootie covered their tune "I Go Blind", if you remember that. I'd recommend checking out "Blame Your Parents," "Assoholic," "One Gun," and/or "Since When".
