k, so my hub wakes up reallllllly early with his radio alarm set to a philly sports talk station (w.i.p.). i always blissfully sleep thru the darn thing, but not today. i woke up to the host, "big daddy" (who is about 50ish) talking to a caller. the caller asked him (big daddy) who he thought were the singers with the best voices (oh, this sports talk station doesnt always talk about sports). so big daddy says, sinatra, frankie valley, (predicitable)...john lennon, EDDIE VEDDER....my eyes open and im all like what? and the caller says "what? who is eddie vedder?" and big daddy says, "eddie is the lead singer for pearl jam, probablly has the best voice in rock ever and i really admire him and the band pearl jam".......and im all, cool, and of course i cant get back to sleep.....but isnt it the best when you either hear pearl jam in a really odd place or someone mentions them and says nice things about the boys?
its the little things, i guess /images/smile.gif

so on Hollywood Squares the other night there was a question about what musical group made musical history by releasing their entire European Tour on CD at one time...I said to my wife "hey, I think I know this one..."

/images/cool.gif Last week me and my hubby went to Pizza Hut for dinner. I could hear the radio playing back in the kitchen. All of a sudden I hear Pearl Jam and he's trying to figure out why I have a big smile on my face (he couldn't hear it). So I told him and he just shook his head./images/laugh.gif

Every Sunday, the Shibuya ward council shuts off one of the main streets in the area (Shibuya is in central Tokyo and is teeming with people....imagine Times Square or Picadilly Circus, mid 70's sleaze and the number of people raised to the 10th power - this is where I live).
Along the 500m stretch of road, they have stalls where people sell tacky jewelry and fake LV bags and magic mushrooms (they are legal here, and 5000 yen will get you a bag which holds about 2 pounds). They also have bands.
Usually they have one of each sort all playing at different points along the road, all at the same time. They have a jazz one, a blues one, country and western one, a punk one etc.....
Anyway, last week i was walking aling and was passing the country and western trio (6 string acoustic, steel slide acoustic and a guy on a stand up bass). Just as I finnished passing, they swung into a familiar tune....but i couldn't figure out what it was....then they started singing.....Elderly Woman.....
That's right, but a country and western version....the arangement was all different and there was a steel slide where the fills should have been, but it was the same song....this japanese guy was singing the song in the worst english I have ever heard...
But I was happy to hear it and could not stop laughing for hours. I meant to post about it at the time, but as usual, work got in the way....
