1.) being able to spend some time with my mother this weekend, moreover; that i was able to let her know how much i love and appreciate her...

2.) that final exams are finally over ;)

3.) a new summer job that i look forward to starting later this month - i will be working as a painter on the paint crew at bridgewater state college, which is much better employment than my previous summer jobs...

4.) "the slip," who are a jam band trio,..i was able to watch them perform for the first time in North Andover, MA with a crew of friends from my college,..a good time had by all,..i even had the opportunity to dance, which is a sight in and of itself ;)

5.) july 2 at the tweeter center (mansfield, ma) is drawing closer and closer ;) i can't wait to see our boys perform...

6.) waiting for my ticket confirmation on the july 2 show - it seems that as age i'm becoming a more patient individual...

7.) that former celtics shooting guard danny ainge was hired by the historic celtics franchise to be the executive director of basketball operations...

End U.S. aggression in Cuba

It is time that the U.S. government ends its economic and diplomatic hostility toward socialist Cuba, not to mention the concern that many Cuban people have of the potential for open U.S. military intervention in Cuba.

While the world’s attention last month was focused on U.S. military action against Iraq, the Bush administration used the military crisis in Iraq to escalate its pressure on Cuba.

At the same time that the Bush administration was hypocritically claiming that its intention in Iraq was to enable the people of Iraq to determine their future, evidence with regard to current U.S. foreign policy toward Cuba suggests the exact opposite. The Bush administration -- like its predecessors -- seems incapable of allowing either the Cuban or the Iraqi people the right to determine or protect their national interests. As if four decades of economic blockade, terrorist subversion and assassination attempts on the life of Cuban President Fidel Castro were not enough, the Bush administration has greatly stepped up its direct interference. This includes the role of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana and its current diplomatic head, James Cason, in channeling financial backing to a counter revolutionary opposition that the U.S. government has built up over the years.

By refusing to allow legal immigration under the 1995 agreement, between the U.S. and Cuba, for 20,000 Cubans to enter the US each year, the Bush administration is doing everything to encourage illegal immigration, including hijackings. Seven hijackings have occurred in Cuba in the last seven months alone. The perpetrators of these crimes have been welcomed with open arms in the US. It should be noted that the recent judicial measures taken by the Cuban government against the 75 Cubans who were arrested for violating Cuban law, as well as the executions carried out against hijackers who threatened to drown innocent passengers in Cuba, was a response by the Cuban government and its people to the escalation of illegal U.S. activity and the potential for more terrorist subversion.

The present crisis in Cuba has a main cause, which has subsequently forced the Cuban government to use the death penalty -- a US administration that continues to enforce a draconian economic blockade and actively supports right-wing terrorist groups, whose activity threatens the very survival of the tiny socialist island.

It is the Bush administration’s policies and actions that are causing an unprecedented climate of fear not only in Cuba, but also amongst the oppressed nations of the world. Clearly, Cuba is facing serious new aggressions by U.S. imperialism. This is a critical time for all people of conscience to stand side by side with Cuba’s people and leadership in defense of its sovereignty.
