well, i am not sure who here really knows it, but i went to see the foo fighters lastnight in fairfax, va at george mason university. if you know where i live then you know to get there we had to drive about 5 hours. then drive home after the show. oh well.
first band up - cave in, from boston, MA. not bad but the sound was fucked.
then - Transplants - haven't heard anything by them 'cept one night jake told me to turn on abc or cbs or something and they were on but i didn't really hear anything cause i was busy with homework. they were okay, but not what i expected. plus, we were on the floor, a cement floor mind you, and the dude from rancid continued to incite RIOTS and i'm little, and amy is TINY-i'm not short little, but scrawny little. i was trying to keep her from being smashed and trying to stay up myself and it was tiring. but, it was fun.
foo fighters - finally - everyone is packed in nice and tight and they have this big lyric sheet thing draped in front of the stage and they start playing all my life - and it went nuts....the show was great. i know the first two albums way better than the last two but all the songs were great.
a girl flashed dave in the beginning of the show and he said "i've seen tits before and you can put them away...and based on the ones i've seen you might want to consider getting a lift" he is so funny.
i scored a sweet powder blue foo shirt that is AWESOME. and tried to get amy some wrist bands but they were all out. :(
then it was all smiles on the way home. i was wide awake...i couldn't believe it.
on a side note - the concert was amazing - the crowd was amazing - two side notes actually - this may not surprise some of you, but there was a black dude in the crowd totally rocking out and knew the songs better than me even from the earlier records. music really does knock down barriers. no one in the crowd cared that he was black and he didn't care that he was the only black dude there that wasn't security. what am i trying to say? music speaks to everyone. second note - i am crazy of really in love because after we left the show we were in my car and wet (amy and i, not the black dude and me :)) and i said "i had a really great time and i'm glad that i spent it with you" and i reached over and hugged her and gave her a little kiss and said "i love you."
i dont do song by song reviews because i get totally lost within the whole ordeal...just let the music take me away. i am so glad i went to see them. it was a magical night for sure on many more levels than just music for me.
