...gotta love em......I miss having one....

I have been considering getting one now that I am in Tokyo for a while, but I then am immediately hit by how cruel it would be to confine an animal to a 80 square metre apartment all day and night.

I was thinking a lab.....I like big goofy dogs

What about the rest of you? What's your favourite dog breed?

M

ps......I hate cats......

awww... I miss my dog... he died this summer... I don't think I'll be getting another one for quite awhile.... if I did though, I might get another Cocker Spaniel like my old dog, he was a really dumb dog, but very very sweet. :)

I've got a big goofy dog - he's a Great Dane. Okay, so he's a REAL big goofy dog, but I love him anyway! We got him after our first one, sniff sniff, passed on. /images/frown.gif Now that was the most adorable dog one could ever imagine - grey, with these big, blue eyes. God rest his soul.

I LOVE them, my Lucky is a Tibetan Terrier and he is the most smartest, sweetest, most loving, adorable, understanding, loyal, beautiful, mischieavious, sneaky, comforting, spoiled, well trained, spontaneous, angelic, beautiful, fluffy, soft, relaxed, and exciting dog in the world and I LOVE him to DEATH!!!!!! :)

I have a 5 year old black lab who to this day is still a big, dumb, goofy puppy. I wouldn't have any other breed, so loving, gentle and loads of fun.

Rogue, I will disown you if you make a lab live in an apartment in Tokyo.
I'm serious.

I have/had a lab... she is the best.

best dog i ever owned was my golden retriever, may she rest in peace. extremely loyal, excellent with children, smart, funny and off the charts when it came to unconditional love....

now, however, we have adopted a "beaglador" from the animal rescue league. she is a mix of a beagle and a labrador (i know, the visual options are mind boggling)...anyways...she's cute, smart, goofy..and soon to be a loyal loving companion to my family..she's only 5 months old...still quite the puppy..but i love her dearly....

best thing about dogs is they care not what you look like, what you've done in your life, how much money you have or don't have, what kind of car you drive, the clothes you wear...they love you no matter what...that's real love.

I would fully expect you to, 13.......I can't even imagine the baleful sad looks I would get let alone see them in real life......

I will justhave to keep on patting the ones I see in the park....

Some of the people I have seen up here have English Sheep dogs and Great Danes....no wonder the poor things basically drag their owners along the streets when I see them....

I like the idea of adopting a rejected pet.....the fact that I was adopted at birth gives it a nice 'cirle closing' type feeling.

I am always stunned when people give away pets......

I have a WONDERFUL stupendous dog. I believe he was the runt of his litter tho. Sometimes he seems to be not all there ... like me.
Anyway, he's a long-haired doxie named Jagger (Spencer Tracy's Jagger actually - since his mother's name was Tracy and I wanted to name him Spencer, even though he wouldn't answer to it.)
He's a real sweetiepie.

I don't really have *a* favorite; there are a lot of breeds I like.

Dachshunds. Little fuckers. You can't possibly stay mad at them for peeing on your bed last night because they know how to get to your "soft spot". I've noticed most smaller breeds have that smart-assed ability to charm their way out of anything. (Dinsdale actually had a pretty bad seizure last night, so that's why he lost control of his bladder. It really wasn't his fault. I'm just goofin'; I really didn't get mad at him.... but for other indescretions.... sheesh.)

Other breeds I like:

Miniature Pinschers.
Irish Wolfhounds.
French Bulldogs (specifically ones named "Smiley". I just think it'd be a good name for a French Bulldog).
Lhasa Apso. I've always wanted one of those.
Chinese hairless dogs. Quite possibly the MOST UNLOVED of all breeds. That's why I love them so.
Basset Hounds.
Boxers.
Briefs. (Just kidding)
Pitbulls. Horribly misunderstood and horribly trained by some of their keepers.

Those are just some of the puppies (poopies!) that I'm particularly fond of. However, I love all dogs. They're all so POOPIE!

I love dogs with all my heart!! I come from a family of cocker spaniel lovers. My mother has owned cockers her entire life. My first dog was a beautiful female black and tan American cocker spaniel (she had tan eyebrows!) and the dog I currently own is a blonde American cocker with a pointy head and a habit of smelling like parmesan cheese. /images/laugh.gif

i have a sheltie (shetland sheep dog) named summer. he is a little to medium doggie (he looks bigger cause of all that fur) but he has all of the great qualities of a big dog...laid back, loves to play, smart, very loving, loyal, has a great howl...he is just the best!!!!! a great addition to our family:)

I don't know where it was at...
but they showed a family getting ready to cook dinner
and they brought in a box of little puppies...
(it's too disturbing, not gonna say anymore)

I too have a small apt, .....and a big goofy dog. He is the best. I have a St. Bernard named Otis(after Otis Redding) He is very happy. Big dogs tend to be lazy dogs so don't worry about having a small space! I would reccomend a St. Bernard, they are smart, protective and they give good company. What do you think?

GET A BULLDOG!!!!!

Bulldogs are kinda small, but lazy bastards, and sweet as hell, as long as you don't have any cats around (they don't like cats, the Tom and Jerry Cartoons are right)... A lot of bigger dogs get along fine in cities too, more than little guys who have a lot of energy. Not a lab, though. They have to run a lot and swim in the mud and chase sticks.

I say get a bulldog... as long as you have time to walk him, cause he'll get kinda fat if you don't give him excercise. But he won't go all stir crazy when he IS inside.

Oh, my favorite dogs are rotties, boxers, golden retrievers, and labs. And bulldogs are my new favorite cause they're just cool as hell.
