If you gotta few extra bucks lying around and want to get one of the best albums to come out of 2003 so far...I've got one for you. I just bought it today and it's very Wilco sounding and it is incredibily melodic and very well produced. It goes all over the place. It is basically one guy, but he really fills the album with excellent instrumentation thoughout with a great voice and lyrics. I highly recommend.

I just downloaded a couple songs from this album because of your recommendation. It is mediocre at best. This guy sounds like he's barely got a pulse. His voice is nothing special and his music is also nothing special. It's maybe a couple notches more interesting than elevator music. I'm sorry, I might download another song by this band/guy but so far it just fizzles.

this, again, reinforces me complete LOVE for untraditional voices.
i am the only person i know that likes the meat puppets II album - the one with the songs that kurt covered on unplugged....i get ribbed all the time for it.
oh well -
thanks for bringing this to my attention

that's the thing. Its not untraditional. It's mediocre. its lackluster. This person sounds completely void of feeling. not impressed at all. I like Aurora Borealis by Meat Puppets. They have cool guitar licks.
I did see a video on m2 that was good though. It was by a group called Tegan and Sara. From canada, twins, signed by neil young. They have really cool voices and the music is great. The video was for "I Hear Noises" which i recommend. Also, "Superstar" and "Clever Meals" are good songs if you are into chick bands. There is a bit of an ani difranco quality to their vocals in "Clever Meals." The FAQ on their homepage has a mention about the three most used words to describe them "Angst, Ani DiFranco, Twins." I like 'em.

i hear it as untraditional because most people that sing like that don't get to make records-anyway
tegan and sara are really good and your recommendation is a worthwhile one for sure. i got to see them open up before the pretenders opened up for neil two years ago-they were really cool and totally captured my attention even with being the opening band for the opening band...glad to see someone else knows about them...i always seem to forget about them
