Well, I just watched Single Video Theory for the first time in a while, but I've seen it so much, I can play it my head.
Despite that I STILL haven't heard the part Stone does that supposed to sound like the bomb dropping in "Wishlist." I miss it every bloody time!
Hey, I'm wearing my Loosegroove shirt today. And Stone's wearing his in the video. I wonder if that means something. Great, now I sound like I just stepped out of the VH-1 episode of No Doubt's FanClub.
Mark Pellington's giving me a headache. Will quick cuts ever be "over"?
I still laugh uproariously when Mike talks about watching Eddie for emotional cues on stage, leading to Ed's big intense growl. It's too funny.

Could Jeffy be cuter? Love his eyes in this vid. But I swear I totally can't hear that 900,000 thing ever again or I'm gonna go postal!
Jack? Jack? (With all sincere apologies to Mr. Cameron) I MISS JACK!

I haven't watched "SVT" since October!! If I can bring myself to limp down two flights of stairs, I'll make it one of my activities for the day.

I still can't hear that "bomb" part, either. Maybe it's a band-only thing. You know how dogs react to dog whistles? They're the only ones who can hear the high frequency. Maybe the guys in PJ are the only ones who can tell when Stone's guitar makes the "sound of the neutron bomb." (?)

And it's not 900,000... it's ONE MILLION! You're not giving our boys credit for that extra 100,000!

And no, Jeffy could not be any cuter. Even my friends who aren't into PJ and think Jeff is a trippy hippie boy think he looks yummy in "Single Video Theory."

Anyhow, what I love most about "SVT" is the fact that every time you watch it, you notice something new, some little nuance that you didn't pick up on before. Of course, if you watch it too many times, you develop the ability to do bang-on impersonations of a certain bass player, including hand gestures and looks of hapless confusion.

My fav part is when Stone is talking about how he wrote the music for "In Hiding." He has the sweetest look on his face. You remember that scene, Woody????????

The "In Hiding" part is my fave part of the whole video!
I love that story and the way Ed (and esp) Stone talk about the song.
Great pick, booby!

I love the part, and help me out here girls, not sure exactly which part... where Mike looks absolutely confused... like he's standing on the boat with his bags packed and he the fucking boat just disappeared.

What if the Hokey-Pokey *is* what it's all about?

I believe the Mike part you are referring to occurs when it seems as though they are going to start into "Wishlist" and everything sort of disintegrates on the spot. Mike is left sitting there like "What the fuck?". /images/smile.gif

lol that IS a funny part indeed! I happen to enjoy when Eddie's telling Stone to come in with that guitar thing at the end of the song (damn, can't remember which now)and he has no clue at which moment the guy's referring to. Ed's like, you know, the end. Stone's still confused and so he asks good ol' Mike where Ed wants that note/sequence, whatever and Mikey says sure he knows where Ed wants it - at the end, and Eddie just cracks up! Ah, that's a good one too. /images/smile.gif

Yep, I'm another one who can't hear the bomb part!
Damn, I just can't watch SVT enough! So many highlights.

*Stone's cute smirk, "Whatta ya think?"
*"What's Pearl Jam mean to you?" How Ed can't think of an answer
*"Action, Jack...action Jack...where's Jack!"
*Eddie's butt in those army pants (sorry, I just had to mention that!)
*I'll have to agree with everyone's comments about Jeffy's eyes.
*The whole E-bow discussion

Well, you get the point. I love everything about SVT. And I'm bursting with excitement at the thought of a new DVD! Woo hoo!

Whoo,..I'm a bit late but,..
I think it's because the songs and the shots don't match sometimes,..like the sound is from an early-er jam or something,..
dunno.
You know what?
I'm going to be extremely corny here,but..I think the fact that we can't hear the 'neutron bomb' part..is not partially,.but totally....

Jeff's fault...hee hee!! ;) sorry Sarah..

Hey, I just thought of something else I love.
When they start Given to Fly, Eddie's sort of mumbling something and it always feels like it's part of the song. Then the camera goes to him and he's not speaking, and I remember that it's just an interview quote placed over the song track. It sounds so cool though.

OHH,...that gives me chills,..
He's saying this:
"The love that he saves he still gives it away,..I love singing that part" I'm not quoting it correctly,..but he's saying the line, and then says that he loves to sing that line,..I love that line,..8)

so yeah, I know where the neutron bomb is... Does that make me an honorary member of Pearl Jam or anything? Does it mean I get money?

Well anyway, I'll tell you where it seems to be. But that will require me turning on SVT and finding it. that means I can sort of watch it but the tv is behind me. hmm.

Anyway, I'll tell you this much: Actually on Yield... I think that sound ... well there is a bomb sound. Fuck now I have to stop the tape and listen to yield. Okay the bomb here is... Okay nevermind, it's more of a waves crashing sound, but it's right before... "I wish i was as fortunate..."

AS FOR THE BOMB...
Here's the deal. I think I hallucinated hearing it in SVT, altho I am still hallucinating it. I feel like I hear something real faint right after Ed says "neutron bomb."

However... What I think the case may be is that the musical track that is playing along with the video of playing Wishlist is NOT the actual audio recording taken from that scene. So we never DO hear the neutron bomb, because it's not there.
I tried to watch to look for discrepancies between ed's mouth and the words, but... They hardly show Ed's face during this song. That leads me to further conclude what I did. Also there's a point where Ed's head is real blurry but it sort of looks like he's not saying anything like what we hear.

Just watch "Given to Fly..." that one always bothers me a bit because the music and picture are so mismatched.

This could all be bullshit, but it's my hypothesis. It's my single video theory.

You know the questions I have? What is Jeff talking about with like the guy that had "gunpowder coming out of the craziest places...like the middle of his stomach".

And I wonder what Eddie is talking about when Jack's icing his wrists and you hear him saying "I'm just gonna get into this meditative thing" or something.

And what song is Mike talking about the two note guitar solo?

Anywho.

Nicole

Exactly my ponint!
That's what I ment, but you with your rambling ways explained it much uch better..
So I think your right,..and therefore, I'm right too,...;)
And In the beginning, with the lightbulb, you can hear Jefff talk about a statue "I ended up siting there for like and hour, just staring at it" is he talking about the 'Given to fly' statue in the pic?
Who knows but to say that I ramble on too long.

Whatever it takes, where ever I may go,as long as my stuffed monkey may go with me.
