OK, I can't stand it anymore.
Ames Lust, Cready Love. Here's the most exquisite Stone thread!!!!
Warm thoughts, please!!!
Here's mine:
I was a-watching the San Sebastian show that was treed over at Synergy. And Stone was REALLLLLLY on. He was having a great show. Even the trouble at the beginning of "Daughter" didn't seem to bother him. Ed introduced him and he waved.
He sang the "ohhhhhs" in part of "Jeremy." He stayed at the front of the stage, which he usually does on good days. "Nothing's working for me, man!" he exclaims when his bass doesn't work for him in "Smile."
To paraphrase some popsters, "Whatta man! Whatta man!"

Setting aside for a moment Stone's incredible talent as a musician, I have to say that he is one of the most down-to-earth, unselfish, and sweetest people I have ever met.....not too bad on the eyes too :P

Okay, I've polluted Paige's thread enough. We all know Stoney is The Man. So here they are, the
TOP 25 REASONS WHY I LOVE STONE GOSSARD:
1. He has the coolest name ever.
2. He can change his looks dramatically over the years and still be a total hottie.
3. He kept a toy cow on his amp.
4. Two words: alternate tunings!
5. He's a "funny city rock guy with a Marshall." /images/wink.gif
6. Brad rocks!
7. He's a Seattle lifer.
8. Loosegroove!
9. He's a member of JAMPAC.
10. He makes it cool to be a dork.
11. He's absolutely fuckin' hysterical in interviews.
12. By that same token, he's very articulate, which is refreshing in the world of rock.
13. He met Chewy.
14. Nobody should look that good in plaid pants.
15. He has better pecs than you'd think he would (See the "Oceans" video for evidence).
16. He played peacemaker whenever Jeff would fight with Mark Arm and Greg Gilmore in Green River and Mother Love Bone, respectively.
17. He's written the music to tons of amazing tunes.
18. Seven reasons in one: "Mankind", "Of The Girl", "Thin Air", "Rival", "All Those Yesterdays", "No Way", and "Strangest Tribe."
19. He sings lead on "Mankind" and totally kicks ass in doing so, especially live.
20. He was in "Singles."
21. His left-brain tendencies balance Jeff's right-brain tendencies, and Stone STILL is creative as hell.
22. He has a twin sis named Star.
23. Rhythm guitarists don't get enough credit to begin with, and he is the best of the bunch.
24. He founded the greatest band in the world!!!
25. Paige loves him.

Wow! It was a great to come home from a terrible day and see the terrific Stone photos - thanks Mich and Sarah! And here all the funny comments, thanks Sandi (now lay off!) and everyone.
Not to be outdone, here are my 25 reasons for loving Stone (not in any particular order):
1. (For Michelle) He washes his hair!
2. (For Chewster) One word: Stubble!!
3. (For Sarah) He never talks about how many copies of Vs. were sold.
4. (For Sandi) He drives a green Volvo and wears checkered pants.
5. (For me) He's fuckin' hot! (And just my type, exactly.)
6. (For everyone:) He's such an untrendy trendsetter.
7. He wrote "Of the Girl." Damn, I get worked up just thinking about the damn song.
8. He doesn't freak out, even when teased unmercilessly by Ed on stage.
9. Except once he freaked out on stage at Lollapalooza and it looked like hell was unleashed (forget about Russell Crowe!)
10. He gave rhythm guitar new meaning.
11. He gave rhythm guitar new sounding.
12. When he had long hair, he could shake his head so that his ponytail whipped around like an exotic dancer's tassles!
13. He says "Loosegroove Records" so coolly.
14. He was in the bathroom between sets during Monkey Wrench Radio.
15. Ben Harper does impressions of him.
16. He's intelligent and knows how to express it.
17. He's witty and knows how and when to express that.
18. He mixes SO well with Ed that they probably are soulmates in a friendship kind of way. One makes the other stronger.
19. Sarah's right: How is this guy built? He looks like he should be the 99-pound weakling or something. But he ain't!
20. Damn, he looks fine in jeans.
21. He always says "Fuck it, I'm gonna sing" or something just as fun and cool before "Mankind."
22. He looks good in orange. And lime green. And all the other colors that no one except skinny blondes are supposed to look good in.
23. He says Kurt Cobain was right about him and his band ... to a certain extent.
24. He went to Ticketmaster for us.
25. Because he's so cooooool that all my rowdy friends came out to celebrate him!!

i must dedicate this post of mine to my best mate ross(ard) who worships the ground mr gossards pointy little shoes walk on. :)

Woo-hoo! Paige, I'm so happy you got those pics to work! As a reward for your dilligence, here is the following quote, taken from pg. 55 of the Mick Wall book:
"He's obviously someone who's just led by music. So he started again. I think he displayed courage in doing that. It's an honesty you don't find often in the rock business. He must have great faith in what he does to think that he could start again. But when you think he struggled for a long time, through Green River and then Mother Love Bone, finally got a record deal with a major label, and they've cut a great album, and then the singer goes and dies on him?! That would have finished most people right there. But he walks away from it. He surely could have gone and got a replacement. I mean, he could have got the guys he did for Pearl Jam and still called it Mother Love Bone, but he didn't. So that's real courage." - Jon Hotten of "RAW" magazine, on Stone Gossard, post-MLB.

I listened to this one at 3:00am earlier today for the first time in ages...
"MANKIND"
Words, music: S. Gossard
You'll be going out with radio
Goin' out with disco
Goin' out like Bacchanal.
I'll be going out with telephone
Goin' out alone,
To the radar zone.
It's all just inadvertent imitation,
And I don't mean mine
It's all across this nation
If it's just inadvertent simulation,
A pattern in all mankind
What's got the whole world fakin' it?
I'll be playing with my magazine
Using up my Listerine,
Like Ovaltine.
And you'll be dipping in your battleship,
For the latest tip
For the latest dream
It's all just inadvertent imitation,
And I don't mean mine.
It's all across this nation
If it's just inadvertent simulation
A pattern in all mankind
What's got the whole world fakin' it?
If it's just inadvertent imitation
A pattern in all mankind
What's got the whole world fakin' it?
What's got the whole world fakin'...?
What's got the whole world fakin'...?
What's got the whole world fakin'...?
What's got the whole world faking it? Yeah.

I got this slightly sexual Pearl Jam vibe today,...and Stone always tops it off,..
Okay,..someone somewhere said they'd stop thinking off the words Pearl jam as a 'dirty' word,..so I got to thinking,..Pearl Jam a 'dirty ' word??
hmmm?....hmmm....hmm..AAAAKKK!! yes,..It could be,..bare with me here fro a sec(x)...
The colour Pearl is like what? white-ish?? what ELSE is white-ish and can be reffered to as JAM??? has to do with boys,..has to do with sex,...YES! you konw it!
And then Stone:"Playing with my magazine" what kind of magazine would he be playing with? Readers Digest?? no,..I'm thinking more in the lines of 'playboy' or whatever..
And not JUST for the interesting articles...
Sorry,..but that came to my mind today,..sorry If i ruined it for you all,If I endulged, then the more playing power to ya!
