sometimes i just want to get in my car and go.
no plan other than a full tank of gas
and some cash.
i wanna drive til my eyes are half closed
and stop at a motel with the
light out on the letter E
fall asleep in my clothes
on top of the covers
with the tv still on.
then i wake up with the sunlight
brush my teeth
find my keys
and leave the clerk in my dust.
i wanna be 27 again
living in freedom that i traded for obligation
with a head full of knowledge
and an attitude adjusted.
would it be so bad to feel this way
everyday for the rest of my life.
i want to talk to my friends
until the start of the next day
just to talk about nothing
or everything or the weather
until there's no more to say
and our eyes are half closed
and we say an uncomfortable
goodbye knowing full well we
don't want to leave each other
not anymore
not again
not tonight..........
i wanna stay in the moment i
created a second ago
trading this life for that one
for just a short time
to be 27 again
in the new but familiar world
i wish would happen again
only this time i know the
ending and i can step back
forgive the regret
keep my eyes half closed
and just drive............................................. ....................
