A lot of releases today, and as always I found myself at my local record store this morning to spend my hard earned cash. I bought 4 albums:
Minus 5 - "Down With Wilco"
Richard Ashcroft - "Human Conditions"
Fischerspooner - "#1"
The Music - "The Music"
I've listned to all of them except The Music so far. I'll put that on next. So far, so good, although Fischerspooner seems to have some slow moments. Minus 5, in case you don't know contain all the members of Wilco plus a whole bunch of other artists (Peter Buck from R.E.M., Scott McCauhgley...etc). It's basically like a Wilco record, but Jeff Tweedy only does lead vocals on one song, it's a really good album. Richard Ashcroft's new album has some huge hooks and chorus' in it, which makes it a nice listen. It sounds a little mediocore at some points, but then you hear a song like "Science of Silence" and you completely forget about that. I passed on The Blood Brothers, although I might get that later on, anyone else get it? It was pretty cheap, and I remember reading or hearing about them being good somewhere. But...if thelateman80 must choose an album of the month for February it goes to...Nada Surf - "Let Go". It's excellent and I think just about anyone would love it. Runner-up is Cat Power's "You Are Free".
