Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
"Son," he said "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home."

To keepin' silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Tho' my life was in a rut
"Till I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
Back home.

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No on taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" I said "You can keep my things,
they've come to take me home."

Anyone see him on this current tour? One of the most amazing live presentations, amazing meeting of music and artistic interpretation.

Solsbury Hill was very simple but very sweet - I won't ruin it in case anyone here is still going to see him.

And if you were discouraged because of the price of the tickets, do what me and my friend did: either buy the cheap $46.00 seats, OR go down to the show even with no money and hang out by will-call where people pick up the tix they bought with credit cards. There were SO MANY people who didn't want to bother trying to sell their tix and just wanted to go in, we got tix in the best section (first section on the side - you don't really want to be on the floor for this show, because the stage in in the center of the arena and you want to be up enough to see the top of the stage - a lot happens there!). And we got these tix for FREE!!! So yeah, anything is possible, even getting 2 of the most expensive tix for free. GO SEE PETER GABRIEL! PAY $46 IF YOU HAVE TO, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Peter was in Vancouver last night at GM Place ~ methinks the ticket prices (what with the exchange rate and all) are one of the reasons why there were only about 7000 people there. Holding a concert this close to Christmas with prices like those is kinda stupid.

I adore Peter Gabriel but when tix went onsale even I was like "Ummm, I don't think so". $46 for the crappy seats (which, now that I've seen the show, would not have been so bad since it's so visual) wasn't working for me.

The 2 free tix we got were an unbelievable $111.00 each. I couldn't believe it, and really couldn't believe people GAVE them to us for FREE. But they did, which is why I'm telling everyone GO TO THE VENUE and see what happens.

But yeah, I hope Peter learns something about ticket prices and sales. Wouldn't it have been better to make the same money selling out the whole venue, than selling half of it for crazy prices?

He's got to scale down his production, that's why the prices are so high. I understand it's an important part of the experience PG likes to put on, but perhaps that's better left to a few select, major performances that will end up on a DVD rather than a full-scale tour.
