Hi everyone...old and new. How are you today? Me- I'm thanking me lucky stars it's Friday. WHEW! that week was getting on my nerves! Ok, so many know I was MIA over Christmas..over in the Czech Republic. And I told you I have bunches of stories to tell, but so far, I haven't really said any...but I thought of this one after seeing that long haired hippy picture of Stone here just a sec ago....ok...to the story.
So me, Matous, and his best friend Matous are sitting in the Black Camel Pub- known for good pivo ( beer) and good music. They decorate their walls with Rock & Roll stars and everytime I go in, i scan the walls for PJ and just look at all the others. So I'm sitting there and those famous first cords come in....Alive is on the stereo. this is going to be a good night I think to myself. So, I'm scannig the pics having some good conversation with the 2 lads and I see Jimi, The Who, Bob Marley, the Rolling Stones, lots of Beetles, etc.....looking, no PJ. Ok, so we keep talking and then they go to the bathroom and I am left alone. So I scan more closely. Nope. No PJ. THey return, we talk, I look behind me and see this small picture stuck up on the wall inbetween these big ones..kinda like a book among the many on the shelf......I stand straight up and point like a freak and say "HEY! THAT'S EDDIE VEDDER! THAT'S ED! I WANT THAT PICTURE! HOW MUCH FOR THE PICTURE???" So, by now the whole place, including the 2 in my party are looking at me like "Alright. Who's the dingbat that let the American in?" I sit down, smile sheepishly and tell my 2 Matous's that I will pay for that picture. They say, ok, they'll probably give it to you, we'll go ask. Well, just so happens one of the owners was inthat night and they knew him a bit. After about 5 minutes, my sweet Matous comes back with not 1 but 10 PJ pictures. The owner gave me a 1999 calender of PJ pictures with lots of old long haired pictures and lots of new clean cut ones. ( to me this is so cool, cause every year I try to find PJ calender, but no such luck) I offered him money for them, he refused. There were only 10 pictures in it because I noticed the picture of Ed on the wall was from the calender and the long hair hippy pic of Stone, that is on this board was also on the wall...right in front of my face. I just had NO idea it was Stone. All this time I thought it was someone else.
Well, I left a happy camper that night....tummy full of wine and hands loaded with PJ pictures.
