So full of intelligent, tolerant people.

"Putting the Brakes on Homosexuality"
I would like to thank Megan Stokes for replying to my letter September 3.
A few years back, it was decided to take the Lord's Prayer out of schools. The reason was it would offend people of other religions. The Lord's Prayer is the most beautiful prayer ever written. "Our Father, who art in heaven" acknowledges that God, Our Father, is the creator of us all. By taking the prayer out of the schools, are they not denying that God, the Father, is the creator of us all?
Then, to make matters worse, they introduced sexual orientation into schools.
It seemed it was more important for the children to know about homosexuality then to learn about kindness, honesty, and self-control. I fail to see where knowing about homosexuality is enabling students to become better doctors, lawyers, cashiers, or mechanics. if a mechanic knows all about homosexuality, but knows nothing about how to fix the brakes on a car, then what good is that?
I fail to see how it is for the betterment of society when a man is permitted to marry another man, or for a woman to marry another woman.
You say homosexuality is a part of who they are. Could a theif or a murderer use the same argument? For some lesbians, it is sport to go after a straight girl. Should we encourage that and applaud?
The Bible does teach forgiveness of sin, but only if that person repents and turns to Christ. It is then he can recieve mercy and forgiveness.
In closing, I would like to ask Megan a question. When John the Baptist told the king what he was doing was wrong, was he ungodly for telling the king?
Sylvia Commerford
(Anyone want to explain the Bible story she's referring to?)
