none other than the smoothster! /images/smile.gif here is a quick recap of a pretty cool night...

joe (my buddy) and i walked in the showbox around 8pm to a surprisingly empty venue...i figured this thing would surely sell out...but the mood and atmosphere were great! after walking in, there was a table with "goodies"...there was a guest book that everyone signed. it was to go to layne's mother...there were also memorial t-shirts and some raffle items. i don't really like black t-shirts so i didn't get one, but i wanted to donate so i bought a raffle ticket for one of two prints being given away. both first edition prints of staley's "self portrait" and "crown of thorns" (see below) i like "self portrait" so i entered for that one... /images/laugh.gif and i WON! WOO HOO!!! /images/smile.gif

and there was this artist who was "painting the show"...it was incredible...check out his website (and see below)...go to the gallery. http://www.gregkalamar.com whats cool is that my image is in the painting from last nite...i would LOVE to have this painting...its damn cool! if i see it on his site sometime, i will post it...

the bands that played didn't do a whole lot for me...but the last band, 'second coming' did a cool cover of 'love hate love'...it rocked! over all it was a cool night...even if i didn't win the print, i am glad i went to pay my respects to a man who gave us his soul with his music...

Rest In Peace Layne...

I'd be . . . now you have to find a suitable frame for it, and the right place for it in your apartment.

well, I didn't know about this until yesterday when you posted about, so if that's any indication, that my be why it was relatively empty. I saw the tshirt on the website you posted. I'd like to have the shirt had I gone. Apparently, there were little things like that all over the world... the nearest one to here was in austin... 7 hrs. away. But, I thought of layne. I think about him often anyhow... don't really need a 'special day' to do so.

I'm glad you got to go. And congrats on your win there, smoothie.
