13, seems like an unlucky number around here.
anyway, though i'm a little late breaking, i would like to take this opportunity to express some of the thoughts i've had over the past few days on this board.
it has become clear to me that rules are rules and no matter how awkward or random they may be, they must be obeyed in a place such as this where someone has the power to sort of "give you the boot" if they are at all displeased with something that you have done.
no matter how kind or friendly a moderator may seem, a message board is not a democracy and what they say goes.
for whatever reason, at least 4 people that i would consider my friends have been kicked off this board in the past week. as anyone would, they have all expressed anger about the actions taken against them, and have all seeked out other alternatives to this website.
(however, i must remind whoever has the privilage of reading this that at least 2 of them are lurking around under other names, so watch it)
**i would like to stop here to remind anyone who may read this that this post is not about throwing sticks and stones, or rather throwing them back in defense of someone else. this post is simply to get some thoughts out of my head. i'm not the kind of person who can walk around with a load of thoughts picking at my brain, therefore, i must express them in one way or another.
although they may have had good cause for doing what they did, i cannot agree one bit with what was done by the moderators. 13 has made 4000 posts on this board, which is quite a bit, and i know that the others that were banned from the board had quite a few posts as well. it seems very wrong to me that after all this time, someone could just be banned. i can not imagine kat or sea booting someone out of the message board without a personal confrontation first, so that led me to believe that our normal moderators had been replaced but who knows. some of the reasons others were banned seem unclear, or very unnessasary, but like i said before, a message board is not a democracy.
after all was said and done, the page was and is incredibly dull. many of those who were not banned left because of what happened. the regular posters left are so few and far between that is is imposible to carry on a conversation with somebody without having to introduce yourself. but since carrying on a conversation is apparently not what this page is for, perhaps i have no use for it.
ater 1700 posts and nearly a year spent dedacating time to the people of this board, i think i'm pretty much done here, though it pains me to say so, this board is no longer the utopia it once was. luckily, there are alternatives. email me for them at patrick@purgemusic.com
