"Falling somewhere between Sarah McLachlan and Fiona Apple, B.C. native Allison Crowe's career is in an upward swing. An extremely gifted classically trained artist Allison has much to offer. Check out the beautifully moody Crayons And Ink off the 6 Songs CD."

That's how Alley's described by Canadian-Music.com which has just named her Artist of the Week (March 9, 2002) on its website @ http://www.canadian-music.com Canadian-Music.com was recently named the best Canadian music website by
Yahoo Canada! On the site, Allison's original song "Crayon and Ink" has also received a rating of 10 out of 10.

This marks the latest acclaim for Allison and her trio who, up until this year, have released two demo CDs with a collective recording cost of CDN $385.00 (less than the amount spent on colourful headgear by some of today's performing acts). The band's minimal budget, however, has not disguised its talent and each release, a three song disc recorded in Bif Naked's Vancouver studio and 6 Songs, recorded live off-the-floor in Turtle Studios, White Rock, B.C., has reached the number one chart spot on CHLY FM, Nanaimo's college radio station.

And the group's music is earning it increasing attention nationally and internationally.

Next month, Allison will be featured as a guest artist on the website of one of the world's most popular recording artists. This singer-songwriter, a critical and commercial success with over 15 million CD sales worldwide, has been an inspiration to Alley and her management and such recognition is, both, exciting and humbling. (More word on this soon.)

Allison has been invited to appear on MTV Canada's Select
program - this live-in-studio taping will occur in the next few weeks (further details tba). The band is taking a break from recording its debut album, "midnight syren", and, after a series of live concert performances will return to Turtle sound studios to work with Producer/Engineer Larry Anschell (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Sarah McLachlan).

i chatted with Alley Saturday afternoon and she didn't mention anything about working with the Hip... but she did say they are planning to release maybe 300 copies of the album on vinyl : )

if you are interested, check out another Canadian chickie with a voice: http://lilyfrost.com .... i saw her live a couple years ago and she's had some radio play.... kind of an odd mix of alternative-pop and...?

This is great news to come back home to. The "Crying in a Rainstorm" tour 2002 this summer is gonna be so much fun.

I haven't checked her website or my email yet (I got back about 3 hours ago and have been online for the last 20-odd minutes or so catching up) so I don't know of any tour dates other than the upcoming ones in Whistler and Salt Spring Island.

If it's a CiaR tour date, you may have to come early 'cause, uh, I'll be workin'.

i don't think there are any dates announced at this point, i chatted with Alley last weekend and she didn't mention it... only that they are excited about the tour, and i think they are delaying it a bit because kevin't girlfriend is pregnant and due this summer? oooooor maybe i dreamed that. at any rate, she said they have talked about playing Bham which would be fuckin' cool!

Heather is due in May. :o) Going down to The 'Ham, the 'Bam or the 'Lam (you choose) would be cool. Technically, I was in Bellingham today, at least the airspace. At the end of our flight, they showed a map on the t.v. screens that outlined where we had flown.
