find these ads for wireless video cameras a bit disturbing? I mean, the angle they are working to sell them is kind of scary... every single one I've seen seems to have an attractive young woman involved, and i get the feeling they are saying... look what you could watch if only you had one of our cameras... it's kind of sick, isn't it? it seems like they are really encouraging voyeurism in a really twisted way... like this one on Yahoo now...it says "expect to see the unexpected" and it shows a chick going from looking down, not smiling, to looking up, smiling...like she's so happy to see you watching her... and it is in rapid motion... so the changes in her mouth structure are very sexually suggestive... very weird in my book...it's been bugging me for a long time... why is it okay to sell stuff with such a blatant message, that could be *very* dangerous?!

I find those ads disturbing, but not surprising. I've seen much worse.
I've noticed the same thing. It's kinda funny in a nerdy, pathetic way. But it is disturbing.

so i just clicked one of the banners for the first time and the weird thing is... they just use that image to draw you in and then they are all about selling it for home security... kind of weird.

kids are gonna get desensitized to alot of this shit. hell, all it takes is one trip to www.stileproject.com and they'll be warped for good.
(and I didn't make stileproject an easily accessible link for a reason. so you've been warned)

makes one wonder where these "cameras" are *already* placed
and being used...without your knowledge...
and it seems more and more of these voyeuristic images end
up on TV .. on some show about hidden cameras ..
only a matter of time before we start seeing people we *do* know..

don't worry about us...i have it under control.
yeah the camera thing is kinda gross......but i can imagine myself using it to guy spot if i had one.....but not in a secretive way. i'd just be like SMILE AND SAY CHEESE........eh, no...thats kinda too obvious......yeah, i'm not thinking i'd get much use out of one of those...definitly nerdy, thats the right word....how often are you atrracted to someone who comes up to you and starts filming.

of course sex sells, but this goes far beyond the selling of sex.

i find them annoying, but i've never really read the ad or paid much attention to its message, blatant or implied. i automatically close pop-up ads without reading them, as i think most people do. but i guess the use of the attractive female and suggestive pose you described could catch someone's attention and cause them to linger and read and get ideas in their head.
"why is it okay to sell stuff with such a blatant message...?" that's a complicated question. the people selling the camera would most likely claim that voyeurism is of course not the intended use of their product. and about the attractive model in the ad, well perfume and clothing ads and every other product commercial utilizes attractive women, why is wrong for us to do the same? (i'm not supporting the use of hidden cameras to satisfy voyeuristic urges or the use of twisted marketing techniques, just trying to think about it another way.)
