I got Monty Python and the Holy Grail Special Edition, which includes such special features as an instructional video on the usage of coconuts, the "Knights of the Round Table" musical number done entirely in Lego-animation, Japanese subtitles for a few scenes, a 3 song sing-a-long, and subtitles for people who don't like the film (Shakespeare's Henry IV, part II). I also got American Beauty. There aren't too many extras on this one, but I love the film.

:o)

I love dvds!

Well, I purchased America: Tribute to heroes on VHS for myself and Cara sent me a video with the groundworks thing, plus an In Store PJ thing from '91 and video Press Kit thing for ten.

Also, I got The Mummy and The Mummy Returns on DVD from my friend Katharine. I can hardly wait to watch them. This edition of the Mummy apparently has more bonus features than Katharine's copy. woohoo. I love those movies. (although I think I can live without "The Scorpion King." He doesn't really have a big part in the Mummy Returns, but I don't have any interest in an entire movie about it. As much as I'd like to know more about the charactor, not too into the Rock.

i'm buying moulin rouge tomorrow on sale at target for $19.99
I have been on several dvd website's and it's been mentioned in all the top ten list's for the year and it won an award for the top video of 2001.Not sure who gave out the award, but the newer copie's that i see in the store's now have a sticker on the outside that proclaim's that.
The site's all say that it's got probably the best looking picture that a dvd has ever had, very bright, bold color's and an exhilarating soundtrack to go along with it /images/smile.gif
I've alway's had a soft spot in my heart for musical's anyway.
I was skeptical at buying this dvd at first when it came out 2 weeks ago,but after seeing it on so many top ten dvd's of 2001 list's,i just can't pass it up.
I'm gonna brag here a little bit,but why not? , i have been collecting dvd's since december 1997 (they were first introduced to the world in march 1997),so i guess you could say i was an early adopter of this wonderful format. That's 4 year's worth of collecting and i still only have 193 dvd's.That may sound like alot to you guy's but it's really not to me.You may think it's all a waste of money (i get asked "How do you have time to watch them all"?).When you are single like me,movie's become you're companion.Plus you don't have to risk going out to the movie theater all by yourself, while everyone else is with someone. But that's a whole other story,so let's not get into that right now.
Did i mention that i have over 1000 c.d.'s too?
I am what you call an audiophile head.I have a constant need to be entertained.
I love great sound and video so i had to go out and purchase all the requisite
audio & video gear to fuel the fire. That bring's me to my "AWESOME" home theater system that i have slowly purchased over the last 4 year's.
I received a tax free bonus at my previous employer of $7000.00 /images/smile.gif
The owner was selling the company,so he gave $1000.00 for every year you had been there(starting from 1987(year i started) ( until the year he sold out),which was 1994.We didn't get the check until 1997 though. It just showed up in the mail.Boy was i the happiest camper i have ever been /images/shocked.gif
So that bring's me to the end of 1997,when i went straight over to audio king electronic's store and treated myself to a new dolby digital receiver(yamaha) for $1800.00 (damn near top of the line), dvd player (sony) for $1000.00 (top of the line) and some monster cable to hook it all up.Well, slowly but surely over the last few year's i have been able to save up to finish off my home theater system.I purchased the six speaker's you need (the 2 main speaker's were $3000.00 a pair! /images/shocked.gif ,the center channel speaker was $1000.00 {shocked] , the 2 rear surround speaker's were $500.00 a pair /images/shocked.gif and they are all definitive technology speaker's.And last, but not least, the grandaddy of them all............The mighty subwoofer! , to round out the speaker package. That is made by Sunfire and set me back $1400.00 (ouch) /images/shocked.gif.That was about a year ago, which bring's me to this past year.
The king of all king's......A 65" inch Mitsubishi 16x9 widescreen HDTV
(high definition television)!!! That is the mothership coming in at $4999.99
(ouch!!! the pain of joy). You have never seen a tv image until you've seen a high-def image.OH MY ! /images/shocked.gif
Run to you're nearest electronic store and ask to see some high-def video. You will not believe you're eye's.
I also forgot to mention the High-Def Directtv satellite receiver that i needed to see high-def video on my new tv.It's made by sony and is a relative bargain at$700.00,plus you need a new satellite dish at$199.00 to receive the high-def signal(it's wider and more oblong - 24" inche's) than a standard 18" inch dish.
It let's you get 2 different signal's(one for standard digital picture, and one or high-def signal). The reason for that is they are on 2 seperate satellite's in space and they are at different angle's in the sky (hence the need for a dish like this).Wow,close to $15,000.00 dollars /images/blush.gif.
NOW DO YOU SEE WHY I NEVER HAVE TO GO TO THE MOVIE THEATER!
I love material thing's,so screw off if you don't.I will only live once and i'm going to live it the way technology want's me to live it! With awesome sound & video.Every night here is a great live concert dvd or a kick ass sounding movie that you can feel with such a powerful subwoofer that shakes the wall's and floor!
That's my story and i'm sticking to it.

P.S. Sorry to get off the beaten path, but the mention of a great dvd get's me worked up like nothing else. One subject led to another and off i went. /images/smile.gif

WOW!!!
that's damn impressive. and expensive.
wow!
I have a simple 54" tv and the basic sony dvd player hooked up to our regular stereo...but I know what you mean about dvds...they are so COOL ...
I really love them. We have about 15. heehee.
But we've rented many more :)
Did you get the new Almost Famous? I guess I'm gonna have to buy it again...looks really good....

I'll take my 13" tv/vcr combo any day- much less to dust.

I don't understand why you wouldn't go to a movie alone. I actually prefer going alone.... it's much more likely I'll get a seat smack dab in the middle of the theater (where I *have* to sit) if I'm only looking to park one ass rather than two. I think it is so weird when people say "You go to movies alone?" like they pity me or something. Honestly, it's never occurred to me to not go alone.

hmm.

I have a squint vision too... only mine doesn't even have the vcr. And, if you want to watch something in particular, you have to push the power button a few hours early cuz "squinty" comes on when IT wants to, not when I want it to. lol Oh well.

I want to party at your place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love all of that audio and video stuff myself. However I don't have the money and I live in an apt. complex (not all of the neighbors like the Matrix at full volume and full subwoofer/images/smile.gif ) so I stopped getting into it.

What speakers did you go with?

And I don't have a problem (anymore) going to the movies alone. It's not like you need someone to talk to

the speaker's are all DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY,except the subwoofer which is by sunfire(a division of carver). It can pump out 2700 watts!!!That's what it's capable of.Now if i only had a huge amplifier.I could cause an earthquake around here!

because there are less than 15 or so movies playing in the theaters in certain areas and chances are one of your friends wants to see it, so you bring them along instead of wasting gas on two different trips. it's better for the environment to car pool sandi.
