Well, my and my gf (yes, I actually have a gf!) are going to Vermont this weekend thru Weds to go skiing. This will be my first time skiing.... anyone have any encouraging words?

wear layers, eat well so you have energy, and drink lots and lots of hot alcoholic drinks after you run yourself ragged on the mountain. and have lots and lots of fun, and take pictures! /images/smile.gif

Don't go down the bunny hill pretending to look all professional, skiing straight across the the main path (making about a dozen people nearly fall over in their attempts to refrain from hitting you), end up in a plush snow bank next to a restaurant and have to rely on your elementary school principal to haul you out.

Let the rock machine roll. . .

Are you going to be skiing or snowboarding? I did pretty good at skiing but I kept falling on my ass when I snowboarded. I got going about two-hundred miles an hour and couldn't control myself so I hit the snow. It was one long Kodak moment. But I had a blast and I have plenty of memories of it and that is all that I care about.

And yes, wear layers! You'll be glad you did. Trust us

And make sure to include a picture of your gf in those pics/images/wink.gif

learn the snow plow immediately. if you gather to much momentum and you feel like you are about to lose control, just drop like a wet noodle. try not to get moving too fast for your skill. take things real slow. snow is not soft so keep the speed to a minimum.

have to agree with the snow plowing advice. try to avoid going too fast. it is better to just fall on purpose when you START to lose control than it is to fall unexpectedly. that way you can fall in such a way to not get hurt.
