all this "i met eddie" talk has made me jealous...so i must tell my story now...
bellingham show, last year...its really ironic that i got tickets to this show the way i did...i had heard a rumor (from a reliable source at a radio station) that PJ were to play in bellingham sometime in the next month...he said to wait for his "phone call" as to where to go and on what nite...i was expecting them to show up at one of the many local taverns unannounced...that would've been pretty cool too...after all, i had the "inside"...i decided to email kat over at synergy regarding this rumor in hopes she might give me more info...after two weeks, no reply...oh well, i will wait for my radio buddy...
well, eric (my pj freak friend who doesn't post) and i were coming out from grocery shopping and a friend of his comes up to us and says, "did you get yer wristband?" of course we knew exactly what he was talking about...F*CK!!! we missed the call...(for those of you who don't know, an announcement was made on the local radio station that PJ were to play the Mt. Baker Theater and tickets would go on sale in the morning...but instead of having folks camp out, they said wristbands were to be given out and those with wristbands could purchase two tickets) eric and i busted ass down to the theater but it was too late...no wristbands...i went home and checked synergy and wouldn't you know it, they had the info posted...then i checked my email...i got a response with the info but hadn't checked my email yet that day...i felt STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!
eric and i decided we would get up early and go down to see if we couldn't buy a ticket off someone who had a wristband...to make this LONG story shorter, we got lucky! me luckier than eric because i found a dude who worked at the venue who had tickets but didn't need one...and you know what? FRONT F*CKING ROW!!! like jake turd highway, i forked over $100 and said, "thank you very much!"
well i got to the show and let me say, front row is the experience of a lifetime!!! especially in a small venue like that! they raced through 7 new songs from binaural, myself only recognizing "nothing as it seems" because it was, of course, the first single...
well, when they go to the new stuff, ed seemed to have a problem remembering some of the lyrics...of course i was singing right along with him and when he f*cked up, i was singing what he was supped to be singing...he looked down at me NUMEROUS times and lauged and smiled! at one point during immortality, i motioned at him to let me up to sing with him...he lauged again and politely shook his head no...after the song ended, he stepped over the monitor speaker, bent over and slid a guitar pic accross the floor to me! TO ME!!! ed wanted me to have his pic!!! needless to say, i was shaking...then a few minutes later, stone (i was directly in front of him) tossed his pic into the crowd...guess who it went to...yes...ME!!! i got stones pic too!!!!
well the concert ended in wonderful ledbetter fashion and i was as happy as a clam! ed went back to the mike after mike did his thing and thanked the crowd all all that sh*t...he then leaned down, picked up some stuff...then looked straight at me, he walked over to ME!!! yes me!!! and extended his hand...i reached out and shook his hand and he said, "hey, thanks for coming out"...HOLY F*CKING SH*T!!! are you kidding me? i was like, "no, thank you!" he then handed me a wrapped copy of binaural...and this was a week before the release date!!! it was amazing!!!
i made enough of an impact on ed, that he wanted to thank me and give me a gift...
thats my story and im sticking to it! /images/smile.gif
