During the insane storms last night, I just pictured the band looking out the window and going "Well, this sucks...". I get the feeling Ed might tell one of his infamous "I was stuck in my hotel room bored last night..." stories.

What do you think will happen if the weather is like it was last night around 8:00-9:00? Anyone know what the Amphitheatre's or Pearl Jam's policy is if there are lightning strikes?

I noticed in our confirmation e-mails over the last few days that the venue is not allowing umbrellas!

Anyways, I'm stoked!!

there's another vid of this song, same show (Shepherd's Bush Aug. 11th), it's too jumpy and tinny sounding to embed, but if you listen to the first bit, Mike busts into a little Maiden riff. :silly:

Ted of the Pharmacists missed his plane at LaGuardia, forgot his passport so he couldn't fly up to TO in time for the show,

here is the pre-set from tonight's show...:confused::silly::silly::silly::silly:

ahh, sharon and neil are getting a great show!
I could be wrong, but I don't think this has ever happened before!

Hello all!!

BEST OPENING ACT(S) EVER!! :cheer:

Got home a couple of hours ago. Ended up attending all by my lonesome, officially, as none of my prospective guests could make it and I couldn't offload my spare. The vacant seat was used for extra comfortable dancin' space and to accomodate the elbows of a dude nearby.

Anywho... I'm trying to put together some proper show notes but at first glance, it looks like the setlist relayer got the order of Ed's preset songs reversed. I also thought Mike's second song had a chorus pertaining to the "greatest one of all" (as opposed to "Greatest Waterfall"), but I could be wrong.

I know a "Bee Girl" performance may no longer be a novelty to some folks, but I had yet to see it live. Keep in mind, I haven't been to a PJ show since the tour openers at the ACC in May '06. So of course I freaked! It *is* Ed and Jeff after all!

Following "Bee Girl", Ed and Mike joined The Pharmacists for one song, with Mike hilariously going missing offstage as Ed was introducing the tune. And as an aside, I secretly hoped Stone would do more than one song -- Dare I say he has become much more of a natural out there. He's fucking good!

Someone on another Board termed the preset as "surreal", which basically sums it up, and it's far and away the most "historic" thing I've ever witnessed in person.

I caught soundcheck from about 4:39PM on... Heard "Of The Girl", "Off He Goes" and an awesome "Brain of J." -- that lasted up until 5:00PM, at which point you could hear folks other than PJ playing. I will say that if I missed "All Or None" and "Life Wasted" off the top, I'll be very upset with myself.

"The Fixer" and "Got Some" come off infinitely better live than in studio. When sandwiched into a "typical" Pearl Jam performance, these do not seem out of place in the least. Me gusta. I think I genuinely really like "Got Some". "Not For You", on the other hand felt weird to me on an emotional level as sadly, I kept thinking "You made a Target commercial!".

Back to the positive:
FANTASTIC show... Crowd was loud and proud as always and my seats were shockingly good considering my mediocre 232xxx Ten Club number: Row E, Sect. 202, middle of the row -- dead centre of the dead centre of the 200s... Saw the whole band wonderfully at all times!!

Happiest I've been in years!

okay - wow

just wow!

the place was EMPTY for ted leo and the pharmacists - haha!

so ed opened with Sugar Mountain - very very nice

but then he sand the needle and the damage done - which - HOLY SHIT - is my 2nd favourite neil song of all time - EV'er - I swear I almost started crying

wasn't sure what Mike and Stone sang (I know seeing the set list) but how fucking AWESOME to see them both up there solo and singing

just AMAZING

(crowd is starting to rush in due to several text messages and phone calls - haha again!)

ed was hoping and jumping all over the place - insane - he fell and cut himself (I didn't see it - Carmelle and Paulette told me) - I thought he just lay down to sing a song - because he was lying down singing!

Mike was absolutely on fire - a serious Mike inferno like I have NEVER seen before

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Got Some live - my punking soul was smiling to that one!!

black was beautiful - fantastic sing along

down was a highlight for me - I love that song!!

off he goes - OFF HE GOES!!! - :)

and the crowd was amazing - the only two assholes in the place were sitting beside me - or rather on top of me - and they strolled in around the 3 or 4th song

Ed came into the crowd at the front - not sure if he was standing on peoples heads or what but cool!

we met up with Carmelle and Paulette for drinks and dinner at the preparty and after the show we had a LONG walk to the TTC and couldn't even find a place to get a cup of coffee so I feel the bad hostess right now - I think it was taking the public transit - it seriously screws up your post-show festivities - "off they go" to Chicago on Sunday!!! - maybe another opening act will break a toe or something

:)

as for 10c seats - worst fucking seats I've ever had for a PJ show (I mean we were on the floor and row 14 so that's not awful - it's fantastic really) - I didn't recognize a face around me - my usual seat area mates were scattered to the sides of me - I don't know what they're doing but they really mixed the whole thing up - usually 10 clubbers don't spend 1/2 the show in the bar an a lot of that was happening on the floor so obviously some dicky-doodling was going on with the ticketing

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VRnP6aspWLs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VRnP6aspWLs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

my friend Karen's head is in this - she was in our row Mike side - so we were same seats in the center - so they actually look pretty good as far as this video goes

funny thing to - they couldn't find Mike

and Ed said "he might be late but he ain't been ate" - or something like that

It's nice to see you around here plaid, this really is the only home I truly consider one anymore on the net.

One of my favorite moments ever at a PJ show.

What a great night! The show was just amazing... the solo performances, the main set, the encores, just fab. Neil & Sharon, you guys rock! It didn't matter that we didn't find any place to go, it was great just walking around with you two:)

Yes, we ended up 3rd row, just right of Ed... worst part was the 2 "lottery" seats in front of us remained empty the whole night...

Got some picts:

Wow! What a great night you all had!
When I read about the pre-sets and Ted missing his plane due to forgetting his passport, I knew you'd be experiencing an amazing show. Where's Ob? I want to hear his take on the festivities. I think it was a grand scheme to get him to love them all out again. And I wanna know if he bopped, or tapped his foot, or did any kind of movements to the beats during fixer. :silly::vamp:

Thanks for sharing your pics you two! ;)

Ok, I know some of you have been anxiously awaiting my take
on the show, seeing as how I am an impartial ubiased observer,
so here it goes.

Thank fucking Jeebus for Canadian Customs!!!!!!
They need to prevent more druggists from entering our Country.

Seriously though, I was not looking all that forward to Ted Leo attempt
to put me into a musical frame of mind so when the punk ass came out
and advised that Ted had some passport problems at the border and
would not be able to accompany his pharmacutical bretheren to open
the show, I was a little more than elated.

Mind you, I would have preferred Neil coming out and doing the 2 songs
Ed covered but meh, I guess Vedder was a good alternative.
As you may or may not know but Mike is the guy I respect and admire
the most in this band so when he came out and played that first song,
I was euphoric, that man has more talent in 1 pubic hair than 99%
of the musicians out there.
I love, love, love that song he sang for his daughter.

Stone's contribution was ok, I would have preferred he did something of
his own but maybe he doesn't like sharing. At the very least he could
of done a small duck walk but it was not to be.

I figured since all the guys were doing a little something that for the
next act we would have seen Jeff riding on top of Boom's shoulders
on a skate board while juggling a small sample of his hats that he has
thankfully put into storage but Ed & Jeff doing Bee Girl was sufficient.

Nothing from Matt or Boom, I think they were playing Jenga in the
dressing room not wanting to tire themselves out for the show.

The actual show wasn't anything out of the ordinary that you will
get from these guys. More hits than I cared for, not enough No Code,
Red Mosquito and Smile in particular, but they did do Inside Job and
Porch which were fantastic.

The only downer to the night was the 2 douchebags to the left of Sharon
that arrived about 2 or 3 songs into the set. Now, I am not a violent man
by any means but I was this close to ramming my fist down a fellow
human being's throat. I cannot fathom how 2 supposed fans of the band
could be so ignorant, obtuse and arrogant. To move over 12 fucking inches
to their left, which actually would have put them where they were supposed to be anyway, was not an option for them and it really brought
the vibe down for me and I am sure for Sharon as well although she is
such a trooper you would never know it.
I really, really wanted this moron to try something with Sharon because
it would have made my night to get thrown out for pummeling his face
into a mound that would have resembled mashed potatoes, potatos.
Just goes to show you the element that the 10c is allowing to infiltrate
the seats that should be occupied by fans that actually respect each
other.

Anyway, the show was good, not mind blowing or anything but
the lads are still enjoying being up on stage and entertaining their
masses and that's all anyone can ask for.

My personal hi-light was getting to hang with our dear friends from
Michigan for a few hours. Carmelle & Paulette, we love you and I
am so sorry this suck-ass town had nothing open after 1 a.m. so we
could have spent a little more time together.

That was definitely the highlight for us, too! I love, love hangin' out with you guys, we need to do it again, soon. As I told Sharon, it didn't even matter that we didn't find a place to hang. The show was great, the weather was amazing and it was a blast just to hang with you guys and take public transit!

:)
