gorgeous venue, great seats that we bought directly from the venue by phone the afternoon before the show (9th row off center), a generally well-behaved crowd, and super-friendly people in our area.
ed sounded incredible... i cried during 'walking the cow' and 'millworker' which was so lovely...'can't help falling in love' was so beautiful and got a huge standing ovation... oh.. i can;t forget 'forever young'... or 'porch' which rocked...it was all great.
sooooo....
before the show we were going up to our room and we saw just a few people near the elevators so i figured they were waiting for ed.. we went up to our room and when we came down to eat before the show, javy noticed ed's security guy and we went and talked to the folks waiting around. bodyguard came over and asked us if we waiting to see ed, and please no photos... we said 'sure, of course..' and about 10 min later ed came out of the elevator wearing sunglasses with his guitar, backpack and small suitcase. his hair damp. there were only like 7 of us and one of the guys kinda called his name..he turned around and stopped and we walked over and said hi... the guy got his poster signed (i helped hold it) and ed shook everyone's hand ..
there wasn't much conversation... but i tried to thank him for calling us way back after that House of Blues show in Orlando but i literally had 6 seconds or so and couldn't explain well enough and he was like...
oh, okay...okay...alright...
oh man, he probably had NO idea what i was referring to...how embarrassing.
so, then he got on the bus that was waiting outside the door...
after the show, we went back to the hotel to put the poster in the room and saw the same cool couple hanging around... we chatted with the pj folk for about 2 hours in the lobby and made some new friends ..
said Hey!! to Little Steven who was returning from some dressy event with his wife and 2 other couples
and at about 1:15 we saw ed's bodyguard at the hotel doors... ed walked in, this time more relaxed, holding a corona and seeming quite happy.
he said something about feeling like santa claus.
at least 20 people came out of the woodwork of the lobby and he shook everyone's hand and even took a photo with my new friend (jealous!!) he hugged a few people who asked (i didn't ask because i was one of the first and i was afraid to! dammit)
another new friend of ours, dr.steve (yes, he's an ER doc) was dressed in an ed-like outfit...white jeans, army type jacket and an i heart ed t-shirt... it was pretty silly and ed was quite amused when dr. steve pointed it out to him.
when his back was to me i said 'great show' or something like that and when he turned to say thanks, his hand was outstretched and he knocked my straw outta my drink. hmmmm, maybe i was too close...
he was like... oh, oh... sorry...
i said, oh, that's ok... (heehee)
then he disappeared into the elevator.
when he left everyone started hugging each other...
it was really cool, very low-key... no one was obnoxious, thank goodness.
It was an Excellent Day :koed:
(this one ed pic was taken by our friend, (i just cropped the fan out of it a bit .. all my photos are on my facebook)
