Not sure how i feel about this happening without Layne. Well, i DO know how i feel about it but i suppose i am willing to keep an open mind. Also, check out the other weeks, Week 10 specifically with the new vocalist. He seems like a fun / likable guy but there's not much shown there concerning how he actually sounds singing?

I would equate this to Pearl Jam putting out an album
without Ed's vocals. Just wouldn't be the same.
Layne had such a powerful and unique sound to him
that the combination of the music and his voice was
something that doesn't happen very often.
It's like when I think of an AIC song, I can hear him
in my head and it makes me happy.
I don't have enough of an open mind when it comes to things like this
Kev, I should but I don't.

They're playing at a Festival (Soundwave (http://www.soundwavefestival.com/default.aspx?ParentPageID=1)) here at the end of Feb that we're going to.. Can't say they were a massive draw card but will be interesting to see, with holding judgement til then..

that's been my feeling about it also.
I'll give it a listen when it comes out, but I'm with Ob on this; I know I should have an open mind but deep down I know I don't. No one can fill Layne's shoes

I'm with you guys...without Layne, it is NOT Alice in Chains. It may be an awesome band (and they do sound good) but they are NOT AIC. For hell's sake, call yourself something completely different. If you're good, you're good enough to make it w/o capitalizing on the AIC name.

I agree also! Layne's vocals made AIC what it has come to be known and remembered for. If the other members want to play music, go for it. But don't use the Alice in Chains, become something different with original material, and add a couple of throwbacks in live shows for the nostalgic folks. I was asked a few years ago to go see them at the Arts Center and I refused. I just can't do it.
