Let me tell you,

they don't compare.


We went armed like rat paparazzi, ready to roll.
Cameras? check.
Flashes on? check.
Ready to run real fast if flashes attract?
check and double fucking check.


We had a purpose, unlike any other task we've ever encountered.
We knew what was waiting for us at the corner of 33rd and 8th, for the prey had been spotted by a very aware group the night before....
Serena, Cathy and Kristen.
I've discovered Javy is a very good sprinter, and has a keen sense of sight.
He was my spotter to get to a large and long pile of black trash bags, that had literally, hundreds of the scoundrels. Was my spotter until we decided,....
FUCK THAT,,.....THERE'S NO FUCKING WAY WE'RE GOING CLOSER FOR MORE RAT ACTION SHOTS.....
he can also scream like a girl really well.....friggen' awesome!
Now realize, of the few you see here, there were at least 15-20 of the varmints running in and out of the sewer, a few running in and out of boxes,
we were all very good at directing pedestrian foot traffic, very responsible-rat-patrol-people.
You would have all been proud of us, we wouldn't allow them to run up anyone's leg, or let any unsuspecting pedestrian walk nonchalantly by not noticing they were walking through an episode of National Geographic or Nova, or Animal Planet.
Most opted to go way around, some ran through the gauntlet like the brave New Yorker's that they are.
They were serenaded to by us, of course the tune RATS, which we had just heard not that long beforehand,..... was the song of choice, and the Ben refrain, multiple times.
the words, FUCK, and HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT, and THAT'S FUCKED UP were reiterated over and over, like a mantra.

this was the scene at 2:30am. don't ever eat at the TGIFriday or McDonald's that are at that spot. :cat:




I'm telling you right now, do not scroll down if you're squeamish...

That one one with the foot and tail gives me the willies. GROSS

I think we were walking to the port authority when a cockroack ran across my foot. Very true, that are just a whole other ball of disgusting!

those dudes were so drunk. I still laugh at the looks on their faces when we said that.

I forgot to mention how good that picture with multiple rats is!
and what are the odds of seeing a gigantic inflatable rat after witnessing the rat frenzy???

Oh, my!!!! What did I miss?

I would have flipped the fuck out. I once had rats chew through my tent and crawl across my sleeping bag in the middle of the night. I screamed so loud, I woke up the entire village. I also flipped that nasty little thing so hard against the tent wall with my legs it ran out the hole it chewed. I'm not a fan of rats.

Pet rats are OK by me. Just not crawling on me when I sleep.

I'm glad you had fun taking pictures of them. Ewwwwww!

ohmygosh!

so, we went to see the movie 'wanted' (which is a really cool movie...although there was a major power outage towards the end of it and we have to go back tomorrow to see the rest!) SOOOOOOO ohmygosh, there are RATS in this movie, prominently (kate, maybe too much for you!) hahahahaha. and all i could think of was my rat buddies :) squeak!

A quality production! Vancouver has rats like that behind the Commodore Ballroom, but like good Canadians, they're pretty modest, shy even, so they don't command the spotlight so much.

I was just showing this to Serena and the boys Monday night.
It's funny how surfers always find a wave in the smallest ripples.
Those rats are going big (or don't go at all)
