Hi All-

I'm sure you've noticed the bbs has been rather spastic the past couple of days. I thought I had fixed the problem, but it turns out I haven't. The server is doomed, and it is dying quickly. The server has crashed a total of 10 times in about 7 days, just to give you an idea of the severity.

The current server is a Pentium-MMX running @ 233 MHz w/ 128 MB RAM and 50 GIG of combined disk space running Linux. The machine itself is about 4 years old and the power supply has failed twice in those 4 years.

I've managed to secure a deal on a new server. The new server is a Pentum III @ 866 MHz with 256MB RAM and a 30 GIG drive, which will be combined with the current 40 GIG drive for a total of 70 GIG of disk space. This is significantly better than the current server. The cost of the server is only $647.00. Yes, I too thought it was a joke since the cheapest I would be able to build such a machine would cost more than $1000.

So, why am I telling you all this? Well, I'm telling you hoping that some of you would be willing to contriubute to the cost of this server.
I'm not asking for alot, I'm just asking for whatever you can or feel like giving. If no one wants to make any donations I will pay for the server out of my pocket anyways, I just wanted to give you a chance to help support this place. Hey, Smirks... I'd be glad to contribute, although my poor college student ass won't be able to contribute much... if 25 bucks or so will help at all, let me know where to send the check or money order (whichever you prefer), and I can get it into the mail sometime this week.
