realize this is in another language text wise but it was a nice thing to watch...

"In early 2002, shortly before his death, he would describe the experience of witnessing his parents' divorce: "My world became a nightmare, there were just shadows around me. I got a call saying that my dad had died, but my family always knew he was around doing all kind of drugs. Since that call I always was wondering, 'Where is my dad?' I felt so sad for him and I missed him. He dropped out of my life for 15 years." In that same interview he also said that he was convinced that if he became a celebrity his dad would return."

Still miss this guy....

I miss him too....a lot. I just hope his pain is gone now.

Every time I go to the Key Arena and pass the fountain, I think of him and the day he died, and seeing and talking to his mother there at the fountain that night. She's a great lady.

i spoke with his mother as well, over the phone, a few days after.
it was one of the hardest gut wrenching conversations ever.
i'm going to listen to some AIC right now.

that video reminds of how fun he could be too, not always the dark and angry voice usually reflected in his songs. so sad. i remember the day they found his body like it was yesterday.

I remember it like it was yesterday as well. I was shocked to see it had been six years. Unreal....

wow, i was shocked when you *just* said it was six. really!? fuck.

at least he has his art and fans to remember him. thats my biggest fear of death, people forgetting you and nothing to show that you contributed anything positive to this crazy world / society / way of thinking.

You have no worries in that department, Kevin. None.

Yeah he seemed like a great guy that got caught by this fucking mess..... fucking mess... I read this quote and it is so sad...

"I'm not using drugs to get high like many people think. I know I made a big mistake when I started using this shit. It's a very difficult thing to explain. My liver is not functioning, and I'm throwing up all the time and shitting my pants. The pain is more than you can handle. It's the worst pain in the world. Dope sick hurts the entire body."

what a waste....

I've been told many times that he started taking heroin as a way to kinda bond with his real father.

Such a waste....so very sad...all I can say is that I truly hope his pain is gone now.

this is sumthin else... alice/layne were never given anything like the credit they deserved for such transcendent and *innovative* music... i guess mainly cuz of the 'metal' and mtv associations. as early as he left, he did leave an amzing body of work. i listened to 'unplugged' earlier and it still sounds like no other music i've heard.

i woulda never recognised mike in this...

its such a waste... i've seen mark lanegan loads... he played an amazing show with greg dulli just a week ago, and he's back next month to sing with isobel campbell... he's fulfilling his potential so much with so many diverse bands... yet he and layne could surely so easily have swapped places.

anyway... a few months after layne passed i saw jerry cantrell play a beautifully cathartic show at which i also met my wife-to-be...
