Long time no chat. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed the holidays. Happy 2008! I've been busy as ever with work and such. And who isn't a little extra busy during the months of November and December? But I expect 2008 to be a good one! Sarathan just signed what I consider to be 'my first band' to the label. They are called Feral Children and they play experimental rock. The local press has compared them to early-era Modest Mouse meets Animal Collective. I don't necessarily agree (nor disagree, I guess) with the MM comparison, but it's a place to start. And the AC comparison makes a bit of sense since their album was produced by their long time producer, Scott Colburn (also produced a few Arcade Fire tracks on both their albums).

Anyway, my boss recently told me that I'd be the project manager for the group, so I'm really excited. And good news is already coming in as they were just accepted to play SXSW this year. :)

Hmmm, what else? I spent a weekend in Portland in December and hung with Jami (love you!) for a night (and Kevin too!), and that is always a great time! And Jami made the trip to Seattle when Michael (Rogue) was in town last month, and we had a fantastic time! Turns out Michael and I like to drink. :)

I know I've missed a few birthdays. HAPPY 'blanket' BIRTHDAY!

Cara, you're looking fantastic! I'm really proud of you! I know motivation might be lacking right now, but keep up the good work. Spring-fever is just around the corner!

As much as I was hoping to see Favre vs. Brady Superbowl (well, as of the time of the Hawks defeat), the way Eli is playing, I think anything can happen! If the final week of the season is any indicator, it should be a good game!

I will now leave you with a couple albums that I am digging at the moment.

Stephen Malkmus (former lead singer of Pavement) and the Jicks - Real Emotional Trash

Chris Walla (of Death Cab) - Field Manual

And one that I'm not a fan of, but some of you might be...

Cat Power - Jukebox

I'll post my 'best of 2007' list sometime soon!

cheers!

Jami and I were joking that the next time I get back to the Left coast, she and I will need to make an appointment to see Chris in his LA A&R-stud office and he might agree to see us! The other funny thing is that the back seat of his car is so covered in CDs that I am sure I am single handedly responsible for the destruction of the careers of any number of up and coming bands after I dove into the back seat as we took off across Seattle for the Chop Suey club.

Yes....I DO like the occasional ale or two. I couldn't have hoped for two more wonderful companions. I'll definately be making the trek back to the Pac NW to repeat the effort....of course, London isn't a bad town to have a beer in.

Just goes to show you that Smirksville people are the coolest on the net. We got a new Mac at home yesterday and so I will upload some photos from the trip when I get home.

CHRIS! Its so good to see you my friend! Happy 2008!

So happy to see you back 'round these parts, missed ya bunches. Glad to hear things are going well.
Hugs!

Oh and GO GIANTS! :) Wouldn't it be ironic that the Pats get all the way to the big game with a perfect record and the Giants beat them?!?! That would kick so much ass. :)
