View Full Version : July Convergence

I'm debating on whether or not to attend the Jamily Convergence in July. I know I've promised Sandi I'd attend, but I have a couple of issues to confront.
First, I'm taking a week off from work in late June to take a much needed vacation in Cancun. So, in order to make the trip I will need to take as little off from work as possible. I'm thinking I can take that Friday off to make the trip, then return that Sunday. It'll be for the weekend only. Will that be ample time?
Secondly, flights. Does anyone know how much flights cost for coast to coast travel? If it's alot of $$ I can't justify spending it to go just for the weekend. If I had more time on my hands it be ok, but I'm concerned about cost for just the weekend.
Third, I don't like traveling by myself. Is there anyone on the east coast that is planning on making this trek? If so how for how long?
Forth, how many people are expected to go? I don't want to go if it's simply going to be handful of people. If more than 10 people were to go that increase my chances of going.
I think that does it... and if anyone has any idea how to book flight let me know. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to that.
Oh, and one other thing. How will travel to and from the airport be arranged? Will I have to take a cab, will someone pick me up? What's the deal?
Thanks,
C

i dont think im going out there then...but stranger things have happened....
i believe that if you book your flight now, you will get a better price. i would go to a travel agent and have them search around...i have a travel agent down here who searches the web for the best prices, although then you usually cant get a refund or change your dates. i know some folks who go to priceline.com but again, you cant change your mind at the last minute /images/tongue.gif you could also call each airline and find out if they have any specials goin on for travel then.
there is also a website that folks have created which i think shows just who is going...saney posted it a few weeks ago...maybe that will tell you who is going.
im sure the seattleites will handle carting you back and forth from the airport
and smirks, a weekend with sandi????? im sure she will make the effort worth your while /images/wink.gif /images/wink.gif

hey, i'm flying from detroit to seattle, nonstop, round trip for $434, flying in thurs 7/26, leaving monday, 7/30....i went to a travel agent...she was very helpful, especially about the pending strikes that will take place may 11th (make sure your stuff for cancun are in order and have alternate plans..if the strike last long (which it problee won't), you won't be flying to cancun...) book now, to get the best prices...waiting any longer means prices go up...etc., etc.,...
anyways...some info..hope it helps /images/smile.gif

This is how I usually get plane tickets (and believe me I have bought no less that 5 in the past year!!!) I would get on Yahoo Travel. Select air and then punch the info in i.e. airport departing from, dates of travel and what not. It will give you differnt airlines and prices. Choose which one you want and then if you REALLY want to go further get directly on the website of the airline and check it out. That is my opinion. Other than that I can't help you out/images/frown.gif
Just hand me the coffee and everything will be okay. Fuckin' hand it over damn it!!!/images/smile.gif

hey smirksey boy... you promised me you would go? oh yeah... you did!!! hehe... and you promised me you'd bring a barstool too! >evil grin<
sweetie pie, don't feel obligated, but you gotta know this is going to definitely be a good time! I know it is possible to get flights out here for less than $250 (check around- I flew Seattle to Boston for $210 last summer) and the hotel we are staying in is cutting us a deal- see details on the jammer website http://communities.msn.com/WorldWideJammerConvergence It would probably be less expensive to travel Thursday night than Friday ...so keep that in mind. There will definitely be more than a handful of people there, here are the ones i know will be....me, ardy, prism, vitolochica, stephk10,litnit, luv2rok, meNsane, stonebabe and meaningless, not to mention a bunch of local yokels like smoothie! Right there you got yourself 11 and that was without thinking much about it.... others who are going are posted at the jammer convergence website.
And don't worry about travel from the airport, we'll make sure you are taken care of one way or the other!
