ok...2 'scratch n' sniff' questions:
1) what smell absolutely positively turns your stomach?
2) what smell brings a smile to yer face no matter what?
(insert 'jeopardy theme music' here...)
my answers:
1) spaghettiO's - i can't be in the room when the can is opened otherwise i'll hurl...i can handle yer garden variety aromas from various bodily functions, rancid garbage, etc., but the-neat-round-spaghetti-you-can-eat-with-a-spoon? fuhgettaboutit...that stuff should be outlawed!
2) lilacs...no air freshener, candle or perfume can match lilacs in bloom..

damn ardy, i was totally going to say lilacs for #2. and yes, lynard skynard does rule. hmmm ok lets see
1) oh i know, fish cooking. i don't like any seafood or fish except like canned tuna cause it smells nasty to me. i like refuse to do the dishes if my fam has fish for dinner. but a close one is this certain smell i used to smell when i worked at the raptor rehab center. if a bird is like really sick or has internal injuries, it's shit smells a certain way and it is way gross.
2) man this is going to be hard i like a lot of smells. oh weed. yah that's a good smell. as well as cloves. god i love the smell of cloves. and also sage. reminds me of my dad.

coming from a person with a highly developed sense of smell...
1. skunk... ugh. my dogger Jesse once got skunked, but I didn't know it for sure and I bent over to smell her and OMG i almost passed out. It was the most disgusting chemical smell, unbelievable that a critter has the ability to produce that shit. It's bad enough when you just smell it in the air, but to smell it directly like that... it's obscene. She stank for 6 weeks. ugh.
2. best smell.... man there are many! I agree with you on the lilacs... amazing aren't they?! I'll miss having them in my back yard this year /images/frown.gif... among my faves are apple pie in the oven, fresh lavendar, puppies, Crabtree & Evelyn's "Nantucket Briar" and freshly mowed lawn. /images/smile.gif

Hmmmmmm...those are good questions Ardy /images/smile.gif
1. Worst smell ever: Fish. I can not stand the smell of any type of fish or aquatic animal or something that even resembles the smell like old trash. Maybe that is why I don't eat fish or aquatic food in general.
2. Best smell ever: I agree with Sandi on this that there are multitudes of great smells. I would have to say that honeysuckle is my favorite smell in nature. My man wearing Eternity for Men is the second best smell. /images/smile.gif
Just hand me the coffee and everything will be okay. Fuckin' hand it over damn it!!!/images/smile.gif

1. canteloupe... I hate the smell, taste, sight, feel, everything of it, and I don't know why and can't explain it. I also hate the smell of like I don't know... That gross smell of fried or greasy food that someone has cooked but it lingers in the house? But canteloupe kills me. When I lived at home, my parents had this set of plastic cups and they came in light green and canteloupe color, and I refused to drink out of the canteloupe colored one. I even hate hearing the name.
But oh there are so many more horrible smells.
2. Yeah, I really like the smell of certain like aftershaves or colognes or something, I don't know which. I know there is one guy who lives in my house, and if he's taken a shower or something, I love the smell of the bathroom... that good smelling boy scent. It reminds me of a misheard rem lyric I had... You know "7 Chinese Bros."? The first line is "This mellow sweet, short-haired boy..." But i used to think it was "the smell of sweet short haired-boys..." Haha.
And oh again, there are a few really wonderful scents.
Later,
Niko

Damn, you guys took all the good smells already, so I'm gonna be a little more original here, or at least try to be.
1. Body odour - yuck! And you know the kind I'm referring to (as if there's any other) - the one where you're stuck on a crowded subway in the middle of the summer season, where it's as humid in there as in a greenhouse, and you're pressed up against the sweatball beside you, whose putrid, wafting odour is powerful enough to knock you to your feet.
2. Clairol Herbal Essences shampoos/body wash - they smell good enough to eat! And also, this apricot/peach deodorant I had once. I had to smell it everey time I applied it.

Oh Ardy, I have such a fetish for smells.
The worse smell I can remember is the smell of my dad cooking seal flippers. You could not enter the house for hours after. Just the thought right now is causing my stomach to be queasy.
Favourite smells are too many to name.
Lilas are one of my favourites as well, walking past a lilac tree with the wind blowing softly and then your nose picks up the scent, sweet.

1) The smell of Obsession cologne for men (bad experience) and fish before it's cooked absolutely turns my stomach.
2) The smell right before it rains and my guy fresh out of the shower, (he smells good before the shower too!) and campfire.

1. kentucky fried chicken. when i was about eight my dad bought a little vw rabbit used, and it smelled really bad so he got a cherry
scented spray air freshener to put in it. so one night my dad and i went to pick up some chicken for dinner, and while my dad was
inside buying it, i sprayed the air freshener. the mixture of the spray and the chicken was absolutely the worst thing i've ever smelled
in my life and now i can't smell kfc without remembering what that smelled like.
2. watermelon bubble gum. no reason. i just like it.
