Hello p-girl and co.,

I am feeling so-so. As they said of "Justine", the female protagonist in Kevin Canty's "Nine Below Zero":
"She was full of sadness. She wanted him to fuck it out of her."

Weekend definitely had its ups: Stayed up all night Saturday and 'till 2:00am on Sunday talking with my friend, listened to mucho de Pearl Jam, slept, read, ate Frogourt.

Have a rough day ahead with interviews and articles to complete for school. I have also realized that bad nerves give me the chills, so right now, it feels like I am sick Blech.

I'm sure my spirits will pick up. I've had some smiles already today.

You ever read "Nine Below Zero"? "Justine" had two "he's"... She cheated on her husband with
the Native American man who rescued her ill grandfather. "Justine" is a clinical depressive whose son passed away, and she's stuck in a marriage and a life she wants out of.
I like "Justine"... I feel such empathy and such a connection with her. Poor lady, so sad. /images/frown.gif

ugh... sounds depressing to me.... i know that situation all too well I'm afraid (except for the lost son part... god forbid...i would die)(and the cheated part... never did that)
I'm reading Ishmael again... I have a feeling it will be one of those books I read at least once a year for quite some time...

I still have yet to read "Ishamel". I started into it over the holidays, and just due to time constraints, I haven't picked it back up.

All of Canty's work can be depressing in a rather "jarring" way I've found. It's the kind of thing where, as you're reading it, you find yourself having to put the book aside for a bit and take a deep breath. Do not attempt to read it in long sittings. It'll seriously mess with your head. It's like "Clostrophobic Writing".

the weekend rocked, except i got all dehydrated and have a cold, so now my voice is froggy and sound like the 80's. but it was well worth sitting in the hot tub at the vip cabin at an exclusive resort up at big sky ski resort with cool people as well as a cute boy, smoking wine and drinking pot ;) oh but let me just say that the ultimate torture was lying in the same room as the cute boy unable to sleep. aaahhhh! i was at wits end, whatever the fuck that means.
