There is a massive forrest fire not too far from where I live this evening.
Scary shit. It was so hot today, and very dry. My lawn, driveway and car are turning black from the ash.
Yick. Its very windy too, which doesn't help the matter at hand. We've been hearing "evacuate/don't evacuate" for a few hours now.
We're boiling in the house because with the windows open the smell of smoke was too much to handle.
I hope this thing wasn't started by some A-hole smoker flicking a cig. :(

I hope the wind changes direction or you get some rain
best extinguishing thoughts going your way!

thanks share.
We're supposed to get thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon, but alot can happen till then.
I just read that the fire began on a gunnery range which is used by the air national guard for practice, so maybe thats how it started.
Im most concerned about finding my cats if we do have to leave. One's outside and the other one is inside but acting weird because of the smells. I can't leave behind my boys.
All this brings back memories from the last big forrest fire we had when I was in junior high. The land is still barren and creepy looking. And that was almost 20 years ago.

If only our potential floodwaters could meet your forest fire.
Hope it's contained soon and everything is fine in the end.

that's very upsetting!
we're doing a raindance for you right now!
Take care!!!!
there are hundreds of fires in florida as we speak (thankfully none are near us)
but the skies have been full of smoke and ash for over a week.
makes for some crazy looking sunrises and sunsets - very surreal.
but it causes lots of health issues.. i've had headaches almost every day.
we finally got rain last night and today - hoping for the same for you guys!

Hey everyone.
Things are still burning pretty badly with the fire, and alot of people that I work with left early because their homes were being evacuated. Its complete gridlock in town because the parkway is closed and some major side routes are closed as well. So everyone's stuck on Rt. 9 in both directions.
The overwhelming smell of smoke has died some because the rain is finally moving through, we're expecting major storms within the hour. Which is kinda good/bad. We need the rain badly, but the lightning can be risky.
Still can't find Cosmo, and with storms rolling through, he ain't coming home soon. Wherever he is, he'll stay. He's a chicken shit in storms. :)
Cath, the powerplant is like a minute from my house. I hope that Bobby got home safely, please tell him I said hello!
Serena, I feel the same way. I've had a headache, and my throat and eyes are dry as heck. The smoke and ashes weren't as bad as yesterday thanks goodness. These fires are insane. California, Florida, Minnesota for goodness sake, and now us!
Well, Im hearing thunder, so I best be off for a bit. Thanks for the thoughts you'se guys!

I hope things get better. We had a wicked thunderstorm this afternoon with a few heavy downpours but the rain didn't seem to last very long. Hopefully you'll get more down in your area.....
Good thoughts going out to you!
