I want to go out and buy everything Patti Smith has ever made.
Velvet Revolver should just stop playing music. They completely shit on the genius that was Van Halen. Too twitchy, too whiney, and Slash murdered the opening solo to Ain't Talkin' About Love.
I always loved Van Halen, since I was a toddler dancing around to Jump. It was sad to see only two of them up there. Eddie's in rehab, David's a drama queen, and god knows where Alex was (probably being another drama queen).
Its almost midnight and REM still aint on.

Prince's solo during "While my guitar gently weeps" is probably one of the best solos I have EVER seen...
I'm speechless...

Alex was fired by his own brother? Or do you mean Michael Anthony?
Eddie is such a great storyteller. And cudos to Grandma Stipe:
Remember...Every.....Moment
that made me cry.
The last 45 minutes were completely worth staying up very late for!
Welp, its off to bed for my tired eyes. Gotta get up in T-Minus 6 1/2 hours.
Goodnight all. :)

eye <3 ed
seriously
there is just somethin about him - his voice - his presence that just....makes me smile. i hear his voice and it calms me. it was interesting to hear what he said about being an rem fan and how their songs and music effected him, because thats how i feel about him and pearljams music.
and i agree with you, ob, patti is a ramone!!! in almost every way!!! and i would add bruce to that list, also. i was talking to serena about this whilst she was singin :) must be the water up there! speaking of which, wasnt that funny when patti said - drink lots of water! at the end
i really loved this whole show (aside from what was left of van halen - never was a fan) the ronettes, the clips - prince is amazing! i want a copy of that song!! - the whole nine, and then ed singing man in the moon....and people got the power. perfect ending!
hey, share and ob....do you guys use the same computer or are you one two seperate ones? you guys crack me up!!!
would i be totally selfish to want an ed tour....followed by brad.....followed by the rockfords and then jeff's band. i would really heart that, too!!!

I had heard recently that they fired Michael Anthony.
I feel that they deserved better. The whole part of the show about them was lame and very dissapointing. Eddie had his reasons for not being there, but I hope Alex and Dave were watching wherever they were feeling like shit for how lost Michael and Sammy looked. Sammy was right when he hoped that they could all grow up and act like adults sometime soon.

i loved me some van halen, back in the diamond dave days. didn't mind 5150 with hagar either, but after that it kinda went to poop.
i think that Eddie (Van Halen) wasn't there because he is in rehab. don't know about Alex. dave was supposedly there, but i read that he didn't show himself as he didn't agree on the specifics of performing with velvet revolver.
the odd thing was that the two guys accepting (sammy and michael) have nothing to do with the current incarnation of the band, they were the ones left behind but yet still the only ones to represent. i think the treatment of Michael Anthony after all of those years of putting up with the other guys shit is a slap in the face.

The only VH songs I like are Jump (nostalgia classic), Amsterdam (good chorus), and Right Now ('cause of the video). "Diamond Dave" is a wanker.
Anyhoo ... is it just me or is Stipe's voice a mere croak of a shadow of its former glory? Sometimes it sounds alright, but it seems like he can't hit, or hold, the lower notes anymore.

Diver Down was awesome.

hahahahaha :)
Van Halen DOESN'T stink. I never cared for Roth's personality. I always took him as a dirtbag. The music was great, but as far as frontmen go, it has always been Sammy for me.
And it is ironic that the only two to show were the two that were always treated like shit from the VH brothers.
Dave was too busy getting pissy because he couldn't play the songs he wanted with Velvet Revolver.
Anyways, its time to make St. Patty's cupcakes.
Does anyone know when and if they are doing to replay the broadcast?

i watched it on vh1classic with no commercials, which was cool. i even liked the awkward silences as 'they' set up for the next stuff....
thanks to me mum, i was brought up on the ronettes....she liked them more than the supremes. no doubt ronnie was nervous but i think she suffers from ill-fitting dentures as well. plus chicks like her do better off the cuff, rather than reading a script.. still love her nonetheless...and i LOVE keith richards, how can you not?
i watched that prince performance when it was on originally....simply awesome. if you see it again, watch george harrison's son, dhani, look around at all the guys on stage..he's got this look of 'i can't believe i'm watching this before my very eyes' on his face....priceless.
van halen - the induction was a mess. the acceptance was uncomfortable. for such a pivotal band from the 80s it seemed rushed and forced and could've been done a bit more respectful. one thing nice about the R&RHOF, it seems to bring estranged band members together for just one night to set aside their differences and stop and think for a moment that, at one time, they were all friends and got along. too bad this couldn't have happened for VH. they're not getting a do over - it would've been nice to see them all on stage to jam and rock out and just have a good time. life is just too fucking short to be pissed off at each other over stupid things.
patti smith...so deserving, so humble, so needed, so important. enough said.
loved REM...from their induction, to their acceptance speeches to their performance...still can't believe they're "old enough" to be inducted...
and ed. he needs to release a spoken word album, or do books on tape, or record nursery rhymes and fables....that voice of his just grabs you and holds on til the end of what he's saying. and then what he says is so true and heartfelt. i love love love people like him. i liked how mike mills(?) thanked ed for "all his music over the years".... flash forward to when PJ is inducted...how awesome will that be? :)
people have the power....:)

I work with a guy that is a big pearl jam fan and he stops by my desk every now and then and he said the exact same thing that Ardy said. Ed's gotta release a spoken word album. When he speaks, everything else just stops around me and I don't move. I just listen..........
I was wondering why Ronnie had such a lisp.... She either has bad dentures, or she was shitfaced. :)
I never really knew anything about Patti Smith until last week, but she did rock my socks off. :) I think my dad was disgusted by her, hahaha. Which makes me like her all the more!
