how's it going?????
I FUCKING HATE IT
sitting here sending out resume after resume desperately trying to get out of financial services and never having to deal with a mutual fund again in my life but realizing treasury is my expertise and where the money lies for me
but fuck it
so I'm sitting on myspace listening to music while I trudge through this and hope for a nibble
purrs right now - then some all through fall - then I'll hit some joe whaley and then I'll go all retro on my own ass - edit - gotta listen to some "shel silverstein po...."(not sure what the rest is) - that song ROCKS~~~
this so fucking sucks - but at least I can do it at home - remember having to go and drop off hard copies or fax for hours on end
GOOD LUCK TO US ALL
(I think that means Dom and I)

The husband is always the last to know and has to read about
it on a messageboard. (an extemely cool messageboard I might add)
unless it's from Robert Redford making me an indecent proposal I would
hold out for something else.
that's really cool, share. good luck!

It was the prelim interview
this guy hired an agency - he's been looking since JUNE for god sakes - he's a picky bastard and now we have to sell him my brains and experience
I'm going to have to show him that I can apply my experience to his job - it's all debits and credits, just different softwares and policies, a different industry but it's all the same poop
and I have to do the old excel functions test - v-look-ups, pivot tables and some macros
fine when you're doing them everyday - not so great when you haven't touched excel in over a month - it'll come back but probably not the first time I'm using the application again - anyone know a good tutorial site? - I have my course booklets I just need access to the software
got another interview tomorrow morning too
:)
I'm really want the executive assistant to the editor of our local funky magazine job though - and that's the one that won't call
I could wear ponchos and be ugly sharon

she asked me what I really wanted to do - I said own a record store
I said I would be happy just to work in one 10 hours a day - but it just would not pay the bills

you wrote while i asked! funny! good luck, though! i have excel on this computer, but i totally have no idea how to use it. do you not have excel on your home computer? i dont know, if you really want the job, maybe you could just go to staples and pick up a copy - it may be worth it if you get the job.
i would hold out for the newspaper job, also ;)

I'm great at it - they paid big bucks to bring in trainers for us so we could innovate and standardize our spreadsheets but it's amazing how quickly you forget
I mean give me a couple of days and I'm right back there but throw me in a boardroom right now and I need to fumble around for a while
they should have something on line that I can screw around with somewhere
I want to get away from my field but the $$$$ is such a draw

there was an article in philadelphia magazine about this lady who has made a fortune and started her own company thru ebay.
you could do something like that at home :) i think if you do something that makes you happy, you will be more likely to be successful at it.

Yeah... I'm currently mostly unemployed, though I'm starting a seasonal job with the IRS on Monday.
Oh joy...
But... its not a career. It'll only be 2-3 months, then the occasional month or whatever after that. Its a way to replenish the savings. See, this whole career in 'the biz' I've got going here isn't exactly raking in the dough. Soooooo... I need a 'day job.' And since the occasional extra gig on Friday Night Lights or whatever movie is in town isn't quite cutting it (though it is pretty fun and super easy), I have to get a 'real' day job.
And before you ask (because I get asked a lot for some reason... hopefully in jest): no, I cannot delete your tax records. :)

I did the extra thing for almost a year - lots of fun but just not enough $$$
and I got some pretty miserable ad's who thought they were steven spielberg jr - but it was cool
right now I'm just fed up - I have the one headhunter looking for solid leads for me with reputable companies and then the other agency looking for temp assignments but my contact there is a bit of a dick so I'll just go somewhere else
she's telling me who I have to use as a reference and I'm telling her that I will use the references that I choose to use and if she wants to call up any of my ex-employers and speak to HR or anybody else go ahead but don't tell me who I have to supply on my resume as a reference
then I find out that, with the new privacy act, she can't speak to anybody without my permission - well HA - life's a bitch
still chugging along here though - it's such a long process - I forgot
even when you get an interview it's only the start of a series of interviews that could drag on over weeks
