so, i just got a 80gb ipod for hanukkah from my parents.
do you think that it's way to big to ever fill or what?
should i get the 30 gb?
i think i should keep it
(but for some reason my kids have made me question my own judgement...
how unusual)
i haven;t taken it out of it's packaging yet.

Keep it. If you start putting videos on there you might need the extra space.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
i thought about asking for some stuff from all of you guys that have so much music...
i have over 500 cds and a bit of stuff on my computer but it would be great to get MOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :scared:
Highway23
12-19-2006, 06:44 PM
well, 500 cds would fill that up for sure
And I don't think converting them would be the hard...
I would take a day and totally get the ones that you really want on there.
I'm going to be gone from highspeed until the 31st, but after that, and you have gotten your cds on your pod, you let me know and I'll upload some goodies...that Dom & Smoothie probably already have...but I'll try :)

500 won't fill it up - even at 100 megs per cd it would only be 50 gigs full...

someone with space should set up an FTP site so we can all share stuff...

someone with space should set up an FTP site so we can all share stuff...
as long as they tell us how to use it!!!
i still havent figured out torrents....
Not_Trapped
12-19-2006, 07:40 PM
go get a torrent downloader...install that...then, go to a torrent website, or somewhere where something is downloadable via torrent...and click on that link...it will ask you where to save it...and then you hit okay...and it downloads...then you can delete the torrent from your downloader or you can let it seed so other people can get it from you...then you go listen to your music...or watch your movie...or whatever...
Highway23
12-19-2006, 08:11 PM
you are correct sir, I just sent about 200 albums to my external harddrive and that was about 30 gigs
YOU HAVE A LOT OF SPACE TO FILL UP WITH GOOD MUSIC!!!
Highway23
12-19-2006, 08:14 PM
I wouldn't have the first clue how to set up an FTP
but that would be a great thing to set up for sure...SMIRKS???
Maybe we could work out a password protected ftp for the bbs? That would be rad...and maybe we could even put an IP address cop on it, so if you aren't allowed, you can't download! (I have no idea if that is possible)
But torrents are the easiest way to get shit. For sure. Shaley, if you want some more help, as a "point to point" instructions, I'd do my best to make you one if you wanted one.

I think my love affair with my ipod is coming to an end.. I've had nothing but trouble with the bastard for the last few months (not cool when it's your only source of entertainment during 26hrs of travell!! Well besides Matt & I playing 20 questions) First up all my songs in every album either doubled or trippled up, along with my playlists, so I figured I had a virus (be carefull downloading from torrents!!) So I had to wipe everything.. Managed to get a few things back & then my battery starts to crap out, thinking it's just run it's course, take it in to get a replacement & find it's not my battery but probably something from the virus that's now affecting the function of the pod (harddrive etc) so it's screwed!! Taking it into a store here (we're back in Aus) to find out exactly what's going on & how much it'll cost to fix (warranty's well & truely over)..
But Hurah for a brand spanking 80g!!
Jake I may be knocking on your door once my problems solvered to see if there's any goodies you have that I might like..

Congratulations on your new pod!
Last Christmas I got the 30g video pod to replace my 2nd generation 10g pod. My husband still uses my old one and I have not filled mine up yet. Of course, I only put video on it when I know I'm gonna watch it, so space is not really an issue. I say it's a food idea to keep the 80g, too. You'll have tons of fun!
I haven't had any virus problems, but all the stuff on my pod has come from my cd's or itunes.
Happy Hanukkah!

I've got the 80gb one as well. Our digital medias situation is getting out of hand here at home. Seeing as I spend so much time travelling, I've taken to downloading TV shows from iTunes and watching them on my iPod when I am on trains, plains and in cabs. It's pretty cool, but it sure does chew through the disk space. I've recently been digging on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and Season 3 of Lost, two things that won't make it out over here til February next year. I have lots of other Australian ones as well, but pretty much half the space on my 80gb drive is taken up by Video. I also have 31GB of music and the rest of photos. It doesn't take long for things to fill up, that's for sure.
Of course, all this extra media is forcing us to buy a new PC with 3 750GB hard drives in it, so we can rip all our DVDs to the digital format as well, and then have the PC (or Mac in our case) be our nedia centre. Seeing as we didn't get to buy the house we wanted, and are looking again, we though we would spoil ourselves!!

my kids and i watch studio 60... its pretty good - although now there is another show with the same exact premise on another station - with tina fey and tracey morgan from snl. its hard to figure which is which....
on the video vein - do you have to pay for downloading the tv shows onto your ipod or are they free? do you get them from itunes or the show's website? not that i am getting a video ipod anytime soon, but i was just wondering....

both studio 60 and 30 rock are on NBC. the first being a comedic drama, the 2nd being a 'sit-com'. :)
i don't put shows on my iPod...

if you get them from iTunes, they're $1.99 each or you can by a season passport for around $30... you can watch alot of these shows on network web sites, but they are streaming so you can't download them... there is some kind of software that let you do that, but I'm not sure what it is... I got hooked on lost by downloading the pilot from iTunes last Christmas to try on my new iPod!
