i want to "buy" the boots of grand rapids, detroit and both gorge shows from pearljam.net...have never done this and i got stupid questions:
i have dialup (yeah, i *know*)
so how will this affect my ability
to burn the shows to a cd?
is it even remotely possible to make
this happen easily?
do i need a certain program to download to make
it burnable to a cd? (i don't have an mp3 player)
what's this FLAC ?
any advice/helpful hints for a novice boot buyer would be appreciated ;)

I don't know if you can even get them if you have dial-up.
From the Basecamp FAQ:
Do you support dial up connections?
We do not support dial up as these files are very large.
I suppose you'd have to be willing to let it run for, quite literally, half a day. I got the FLAC files on a "regular" broadband connection and it took about an hour per show.
I need a version of Insignificance from The Gorge (night 1) 'cause for some reason, the file won't decode properly (from FLAC to either .wav or .aiff, using the programme MacFlac). It's the only song I'm having problems with, so I don't care if I get a FLAC version or an mp3 to replace it. So if anyone out there can send it to me, please shoot me an email. Thank you.

try FLAC front-end...unless you have already and don't like it...HI!!!!

yeah, i've resigned myself to the fact that dialup is a huge obstacle..there's a plan in the works, it should be cool....cuz dominic's gonna help me :)
i only have dial up because everything else is NOT available where i live, apparently i live in the farthest points of earth not privy to highspeed, cable, broadband or wireless...
it's mindboggling.. because a town north of me has all that...not more than 5 miles north can get anything..here, it's just dialup. grrrr...

HEY! I miss you and Roberta sooo much. I feel that if I drive back to the Gorge, you and everyone else will still be there. (Silly, but I don't care.)
If that programme is Mac-happy, I'll give it a shot. If you can make sense of this, the following is the report I got when trying to decode Insignificance:
15 Insignificance.flac: *** Got error code 0:FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_ERROR_STATUS_LOST_SYNC
15 Insignificance.flac: *** Got error code 2:FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_ERROR_STATUS_FRAME_CRC_MISM ATCH
15 Insignificance.flac: ERROR while decoding data
state = 2:FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_SEARCH_FOR_FRAME_SYNC

maybe your computer thinks it's a stupid song?

ardy-
i just got dsl...bought the download of the gorge, had a helluva time getting my computer setup to get it to play once it was downloaded (but I did it!), then had my son burn the discs for me...
and...I would be happy to make a copy for you!!
also...
if anyone wants to trade the gorge one for two .. that would be great :)
I just can;t lay out any more money at the moment for another show :(

no, you cant download the concerts via dialup.
no, i didnt get the flac - kristin downloaded all that flac crap and i get flac cds from her, although...
i like the mp3s better cause they are easy to put on my pod, annnnnnnd
my burner is broke but i have all three concerts (portland, gorge, gorge) although i have only listened to portland and gorge 1. i replay gorge 1 alot, especially the part when ed mentions a certain somebody who we all know and most of us love  :alien:

I honestly can't say. My life is going to be a bit topsy-turvy for the next 2 years, I think.
Chris, I'm going to try that other programme and if that doesn't work, I'll hit you up for the mp3 if that's okay by you.
