At first I didn't think to post this, as I am sure that we all check PJ's main site for this stuff, but the presale begins tomorrow, so for those in the L.A. area....

Is it me, or do other people find the way they are announcing this tour to be a bit fucked up?

i dont get this. why not announce the entire tour? i dont think we are being soiled. they could at least let the 10club members - those who are willing to travel to see them - a heads up so we can plan.

I love that song.

And yes, I agree, the planning of this tour is unfair and fucked up. I am still considering writing a letter to explain my "annoyed-ness" at the whole system.

Perhaps they can't announce it all at once because things are not finalized yet. They're just winging it...

why not do this all and release it when they have it all set...

I just think it's kind of crazy. I mean, what if I figured "Well, I may as well go to...blah blah...because that will be the only time that they come even close to me..."

pay the money, and then find out that on the second leg they will be even closer?

urgh..I'm just not happy with this whole thing this year...carry on

this thing really pisses me off. we were wanting to tour around the 4th of july, but we need dates.

i am not buying tickets for this. if i decide to go later, i will be able to get a better ticket the day of show anyway (i have a higher number). i will be in california that weekend (NIN show at shoreline on the 8th)....if pearl jam can be fit into MY plans, pehaps i will catch a show. i am DONE with trying to plan around them.

Maybe they're doing it this way so tickets for all the shows don't go on sale at once, have eveyone trying to gettickets & completely screw the system so it crashes completely??

1 show at a time, less people trying to get tickets, less strain on the system..

It's still well fucked though.. write a letter, get on the phones, DEMAND ANSWERS!!

They've tested their system time and again with the poster sales. If they realized that it wasn't going to work out like they'd hoped, they could have opted for a plan 'b' ... like a bigger server than the one they just upgraded to, or reverting back to a tested method that they know to work.

They can announce the dates without having the tickets go on sale immediately afterward (though you wouldn't know it with the Toronto shows). They've already been staggering the 10C ticket sales per show so the system doesn't crash. All people are asking for is a little heads up so they can plan accordingly.

Tours this big have to be finalized weeks, and often months in advance for the larger venues - which PJ plays. Heck, Allison's gigs are done up months in advance from what I can tell. And that's all done by one dude in a wooden cottage on a tiny island. Holy prepositional phrases, Batman!

i dont get the whole "here are the dates, you have to buy tickets tomorrow" thing. they could easily announce dates and have the ticket sales start a couple of weeks later.

they are being horribly inconsiderate to the fans that they claim to care so much about.

well i'm really angry about the astoria deal. i've never had any real criticisms of the way pj do anything, which makes this all the more disappointing. just have to assume that this is a gig completely payed for and organised by the record company, and that if pj weren't coming over at all next month i wouldn't be complaining.

for years i've thought there might be a remote possibility of a UK club show... and that if it actually did happen i'd be able to get tix cuz theres only 900 10c'ers here.

then it actually does happen and only 50 of us who happened to be on internet and check their e-mails in the space of a few hours yesterday get a chance for tix. the rest of the tix sold out on TM (of all ironies) 2 mins BEFORE they were supposed to go on sale.

the rest go on e-bay and presumably to record 'industry' and music journo scum....

going for about $2,000 a pair, tho hopefully thats a fake bid.

it does seem to be a bit rushed this time around. and i'm baffled as to why. i mean, i can't be online all day, who can? (besides kip dynamite...)
i sometimes don't check my email for 2 or 3 days. it only worked for me (getting tickets to the shows i wanted) because i became obsessed that it was going to happen during the cruise. so i was checking back a lot.

but "real" people don't have disposable income, unlimited travel funds and ultra flexible work schedules. there are the rabid pearl jam fans who will drop everything and follow the band but i think they may be alienating a host of loyal fans with these short notices.

panthergirl
03-31-2006, 10:04 AM
i've been trying to avoid complaining...but....
c'mon...one days notice??
and i don't even get most of the emails the fan club sends out.
i've been a member for over 10 yrs...
and for the first time I'm feeling more than a little frustrated.

really, the last thing I wanna do is complain :puzzled:

i'm not a member of the tenclub because i felt like i was throwing my money away...there were orders i never received yet was billed for and i never received any of the perks that came with being a member...so, i didn't renew in 2003

Someone made a complaint form, and listed all the things wrong with ten club, it was not intended to be some blood fued, but that's how a lot of the people who read it, took it. It could be that was partly the writers fault for lack of editing before completion, but anyway, sorry for everyone who has been burned.

yup. impressively, they actually gave seattle time and said that it was british time. but that didn't even come into it unless you checked yr e-mails in the space of a few hours yesterday afternoon. i don't even have an internet at home, have to keep running back and forth to my girlfriend's uni and losing sleep the last few days, when i should be writing my dissertation.

but i don't necessarily have a problem w/ the people at 10c. i guess its a question of how the band and their management are using 10c... and using TM for that matter.

given the sudden restrictions on 10c tix this tour, i can only assume TM have decided to lower the amount of tix they'll let pj sell for their own shows. but it seems strange that pj would have to concede this ground...

and as for the astoria, have 10c members EVER not been given an option on tickets before? (a 'competition' with only 50 pairs given away and 3 hours notice isn't an 'option' to buy tix) people have compared this to borgata, but i dunno what happened there.

03-31-2006, 10:01 PM
now i feel bad that i complained. par for the course these days, but still.
it's just that i guess i've been spoiled from my experiences with tickets
from 10c before this tour - it all ran so smooth, so easy, no headaches,
no worries...at least for me.

but this time around, it just doesn't feel right.
i'm sure they're doing the very best they can,
maybe they are getting info at the last minute.
maybe ed is still in the bathroom and stone
won't return anyone's calls....

I don't think that it's the best that they could do.

It sounds rushed, it sounds half assed

and it sounds like they're flying by the seat of their pants on planning shit.

Plan dates, get them set, and fucking post them all at once. Give people time to look at it and see what's going on. It's pretty sad when something leaks out before you can even put it out.

A day's notice is stupid. I'm glad that I am not a tenclub member and don't have a show that is happening around me.

Especially a band with this size of fanbase and following, I find that the way that they are doing things regarding the tour is pure idiotic and annoying. I'm sorry, but that's what I think.

This has nothing to do with them not coming aroudn me, but it's pretty sad with the way that they are handling this shit. I can just see people sitting at their computer saying: "SWEET! I just bought Pearl Jam tickets for .... I know I have to drive for it, but it's worth it." 10 minutes later: "Oh shit, they're playing my hometown....I just just bought tickets..I can't get another set."

I just think it's totally shitty...and something that a band of their calibur shouldn't ever do.

Got this from the official message board....

"Welllll, sometimes someone can estimate when an avocado will be ripe but it may take a little bit longer than that; it's not something one can perfectly control...but the guacamole will be better because you had patience and waited for it to be perfectly ripe and full of flavor.

And I always thought Saturday and Sunday were the weekend so M-F is the week.

Love to all.
Kat"

The scalpers, however, have announced a show in Pittsburgh on 6/23 -

ok, i was away this weekend, so i dont get what happened in london at all.

now, there is a statement up on the main website, dated TODAY, saying that pj will headline both the leeds and reading FESTIVALS but the link they give to get info on tickets says that they sold out YESTERDAY. now, i'm all about the time difference, but this was a total time warp issue.

and isnt the 10club offering tickets to these shows?

I don't know if the 10 club had any tickets for these festivals, but yes, the 10 Club made the announcement about the shows on the website after they had already sold out. The festival coordinators are going to try to increase the audience capacity for the shows due to how fast the tickets went, for what it's worth.

the 10c definately won't be offering tix for festivals... esp when they didn't ebven offer tix for their own show in london.

thats 3 shows over here after 6 years of waiting and not a single ticket offered to the fanclub...

also, leeds has by far one of the worst safety records of any festival. annual riots etc...
