Today's posted news is:

I was recently working on a great Guacamole recipe for an upcoming Chili Cook-Off and got a visit from a little birdy who told me that Ten Club members should make sure their dues are paid and check that all addresses are up-to-date. You can manage your membership information by logging into your profile on www.pearljam.com in the Goods section. And - if someone's not a member yet, why not? It really is a good deal, ya know? Be ready for News, luvs.

I'm just prayin' they don't sell tickets via Ten Club this time around. Their site can't handle all of that traffic.......:smoke:
I like the old fashioned snail-mail-money-order ways.....
I must be a fart or something.....:patch:

With the Worldwide Suicide single expceted in mid March, I'm thinking that maybe the 10 club will send the single to the 10 club members first? That could be a cool way to kick off their new label partnership and build excitement for the new album...?

i read somewhere that the poster sales have been to test the site for ticket sales. since they sold the canadian tour tickets on the tenclub site, i would imagine they will also do the u.s. tour the same way.

isnt the new ticketmaster 10% fan club tickets rule in effect now? that is going to be fucked up. can you imagine how fast 10c tickets are going to sell out for bigger cities?

oh well, at least NIN is touring this summer and their fanclub site hasnt crashed yet for ticket sales....

the site would crash even 30 minutes before the posters went on sale from all the traffic and the crazy refreshing. It certainly cannot take it. I have cable and couldn't get the page to load. well, it does work if you're fancy and have T1 or whatever. this week, posters were sold out in 5 seconds (i am not exaggerating!) That's mostly because there was a limited number and people go bananas over ames posters. but aren't people bananas over tickets, too? (B-A-N-A-N-A-S)

oh, and wasn't that ticketmaster rule in effect already in 2003, Shaley? i seem to remember people freaking out and 10C saying not to worry - they would take care of everyone...

The ten club should work ticket sales the way they did it last year - by mail.
Funny, I remember during the last tour the folks at the ten club would complain that they were limited as to what they could do due to lack of staff. Someone here brought up the obvious solution - hire some high school kids at minimum wage to do the grunt work and make everyone's lives easier. Even if that means raising the ten club annual fee by $5 per year, it's well worth it.
I would hope that they won't have a mad-rush internet sale. That's a sure way to leave a lot of people out due to crashed servers and people with slow connections. If they are going to have a problem with the amount of tickets they can make available, then they should do what they did in 2000 - have people pick a show and one as a back-up if the first can't be accomodated.

that's a very good point
unless they allow so many to be sold on the site
then assign the seats afterwards according to membership numbers

they need to think about people who don't like to rely on computers for everything
there are many pj fans out there that don't even have the internet

I don't remember getting a mailer about the shows at the Borgata or the following show in Philly last year.
Hell, I don't get e-mails from the Ten Club regarding this stuff. Go figure.

it would be like in canada. you buy your tickets and then they assign the tickets and have them at the window. it was so smooth. there is just going to be a lot more people getting tickets for the u.s. than canada. they sold tickets for the Gorge the same way, and they sold out pretty quick.

i believe it was during 2003 that the new rule was passed...to commence in 2004. the vfc tour was done through ticketmaster, so we havent really had a chance to see how it all would work out (except for philly-and i know how hard that was for people to get tickets)

they should stick to that....or something similar....
just NOT via internet only....majorasssucking.

though I miss not getting my xmas single, and some newsletters I always found that my tickets weren't always that great...

and there is always a way to get better tickets. The idea of getting your tickets directly at the show, i liked that a lot. But I haven't really been a fan of getting tickets through the club...

shit, I didn't even go see them on their last tour...

am I not a fan anymore :(

what a loser

If I'm not mistaken, it was a toss-up between PJ and keeping a roof over your head, beer, er, I mean food in your belly and you know, stuff like that.
If indeed I am remembering things correctly, you chose wisely.

Otherwise I am talking out of my butt, so disregard.

while these are all valid points, I can't really think of any other band/fan club who doesn't rely solely on internet/credit cards. i can think of six rather recent pre-sales for shows i went to (rem, radiohead, the strokes, kings of leon, interpol, sigur ros) that were internet/credit card-based only. unfortunately, that's just the norm these days...

the best solution to the ticket issue is that
the band should just give ME all the tickets
and i'll see that they get handed out to........all my friends :)

they could build the longest stage ever created and everyone would have front row seats

i'm all about getting my tickets thru the 10club. however, they need enough - bandwidth/server capability/whatever computer system - to allow for east coast crowds. lets face it, there is a HUGE concentration of fans here....philly tickets sold out in 5 minutes where gorge tickets sold out in hours. so, if they are going to do this, bully for them. i'm in! however, have enough technology to accommodate people.

or give first dibs to people who live in that concert's particular area - which is pretty fair.

it seemed that the mail order thing was an awesome way to go and most people were accommodated. however, the 10club guy i spoke to in nyc said that at most concerts about 20% of tickets were never picked up...although they were paid for. thats kinda sad.

listen, i get more from pearljam then i get from any other group that i am a fan of. so that makes me happy :)
