oh man. he was precious.

------
All the little girls and boys
Playing with their little toys
All they really needed from you
Was, maybe, some love
All the little boys and girls
Living in this crazy world
All they really needed from you
Was, maybe, some love

Why must we be alone?
Why must we be alone?
It's real life
Yes, it's real

I don't expect you to understand
The kingdom of Heaven is in your hands
I don't expect you to wake from the dream
Too late for crying, now, that it seems

All their little plans and schemes
Ain't nothing but a bunch of dreams
All you really needed to do
Was, maybe, some love

why....
why is it always the innocent, the harmless, the dreamers?
why does it leave us hopeless?
why does this have to happen?
why can't there be love and peace from dawn to dusk?
why take a father from his son...a mother from her daughter....?
why, in God's name, take a child from the arms of love?
why is there never an answer?
why is there never the right words to say?
why is there no one to explain?

it's hard to believe 25 years have passed.
a whole lifetime gone by....
may he still be resting in peace and
rocking out with the best of them wherever
he is................

I heard Happy Christmas, War Is Over on the way to work this morning and it made me weepy.

Ardy brings up a good point..... why is it always the ones that want peace?

remembering that night (and the following day) like it was yesterday-

remembering watching Monday Night Football with my dad that night, and hearing Howard Cosell make the announcement...

my dad and I looking at each other and both wondering how it could be true-

us both remembering watching the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 together

walking in a fog all the next day

still too tragic for words

i wish i knew you
i wish you didn't have to live on through words
but, instead could live on through deeds
we're all lost and so many people lack a map
to get back onto the beaten path
instead they journey on with the loud
with the arrogant...with the war-tearing
bring us back together from the grave
you went away too soon
