A Love Letter to the fans::
It's all love. And we just wanted to you to know … We love you because you love Pearl Jam. We love you because you participate in our Ten Club fun. We love you because of your enthusiasm and support for both Pearl Jam and the Ten Club. We love you because of your passion and dedication to music. It's all love.
Like any other loving relationship, you must acknowledge that we are not perfect. We recognize we have some faults. Sometimes we send out newsletters too late, or the holiday single doesn't come out during the holidays. Or we can only offer limited amount of tickets or merchandise, which leaves some of you without and extremely frustrated. Or sometimes our forums will go down, leaving you without your link to other fan club members. Or sometimes our web-store will not function properly for you and you are not able to purchase the items you are interested in … we want you to know we feel your pain. Every healthy relationship is a little push and pull, ebb and flow, up and down, so it's nothing personal.
Pearl Jam and the Ten Club have been through many changes in the past year. The band has left their record label of 14 years and ventured into unstable but exciting territory of doing many things on their own. The Ten Club is a small operation and has taken on a lot of these endeavors, and we are learning many things along the way - your input is extremely helpful. During this transitional time, just know we are trying to make things better for you, to offer you more opportunities and include you more into the world of Pearl Jam.
That being said, we have high hopes that you will like us a whole lot more when all is said and done. We are planning to do something for our members early next year, to follow the release of the new record … something big, bold, beautiful, and free! So hang tight and enjoy the ride with us, continue to provide us with your input, and continue to spread the PJ love.
Did we mention that we love you? It's all love.
Always, ~Ten Club Staff

first thought - they will hold a concert and webcast it. or maybe webcast every concert. which will be cool but not the same as being there.
now im thinking that they are going to mail each of us a copy of their new cd - but since smoothie thinks some of us will STILL be pissed off, then i think it will be in record form.  :rambo: :dead: :vamp:

I think that would be suicide giving it to all fanclub members. A significant % of their CD sales are from Fan Club members. Oh, and I'm not ALL knowing! ;)

on another note, look on synergy for the thread about the 10% rule. i remember this being addressed by the 10club a while back and we were all freaking at the potential issues with tickets. didnt remember it till someone mentioned it.

Hmm...I like Pearl Jam and I like things that are free. Sounds like a winning combination to me. I don't understand the pissy people. I just don't get 'em.
One decision that I made when I was 13 that I will always be grateful I made even though my friends at soccer practice made fun of me....Joining the 10c. 138xxx biatches :ditsy:

i was discussing this with someone yesterday. i remember when the 10% rule first came to light....obviously it has gone into effect. should make the U.S. tour interesting, to say the least.
what's your number Reena?
Oh....and one of my best friend's number is 59***....so take that!

my number is 178xxx
(only because I lost my original number after I renewed sometime in 1995 or so...)
but it Just Doesn't Matter at this point in time because no one seems to want to travel down here to the southern east coast...
ARGH!!!!
hope to be able to take advantage of that number sometime soon.
yeah baby.

Oh....and one of my best friend's number is 59***....so take that!
During the 2003 tour I remember being concerned about getting tickets for the MSG shows because the Ten Club forewarned that they were only to get a certain amount per venue and that the MSG shows (especially the second one) would be flooded with requests because, at the time, they were supposed to be the final shows of the tour. NYC shows are my area shows (I live about 25 miles east of the city), so I started to worry that due to the heavy volume of requests that I'd get shut out of my own "hometown venue." And the way they worked it last time, you put in your requests and had to decide if you would be willing/able to travel in advance. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would say that they aren't able to go from one state to the next. My schedule (at least when I find a friggin' job) and my finances just doesn't allow it.
So, in light of this 10% rule, I hope the 10 club has the presense of mind to give priority to those who put in for a certain show and live in the area. In other words, I don't think it would be right to lose my seat to a show in NYC to someone who lives in California. Hey, good for anyone who can afford to fly across the country to catch a show. But if this 10% thing holds true for next year's tour, I hope the 10 club works it so everyone has a fair shot at the venue that is closest to them. I'm lucky enough to live near a major city....I feel for those who have to drive hours just to get to one.
Anyway, I hope it all works out next year. It should be interesting indeed.

Thanks, Cathy.
Yeah, I think that 10% thing clears up what is going on - that is, the small number of tickets the ten club is working with. Even in dealing with a large venue like the Wachovia Center, that 10% rule really puts a bite on the process.

i agree with the idea of giving first right of refusal to local (within the state? two states? three states?) members for shows in their area. something of a two tiered ticket offering. it would take alot more organization and manpower. i would feel pretty crappy if i were beat out for a portland show by someone who lives in nebraska. it would be easier to swallow if my fellow oregonians and washingtonians beat me out. but, i'm just going to do my best to be happy that they even have the option for us.

well, one way they could make it easier is have people *claim* a home base. where ever you live, you claim a certain town or venue as your *home venue*. this way, when the band comes to that town or venue, those people who have claimed it as home are the first level of fans to try for tickets. if any are left over after a cut off, a time/date is set for the entire fanclub. after that its ticketmaster.
its pretty much how bobby's union works and seems fair. although there are drawbacks. it would have been more difficult to have the 03 eastcoast lovefest if tickets were distributed this way. but, i think i remember someone from the 10club saying, back when they passed that 10% rule, that it would make another msg event difficult to pull off.
but, you know, as fellow fans and friends, i think we could also work something out where, say those of us with slow, dialup internet connections ask for ticket help from someone with a highspeed connection. someone was willing to help me out yesterday, i have helped people out in the past and would be willing to *hook a jammer up* in the future.
maybe the best asset for all of us getting the tickets/posters/records we want are the friendships that this band has made possible. i dont know, its just a thought.

Damn.
I had the pleasure of sitting next to Corey (Merlin) at MSG2. We should have had the presence of mind to glom onto the nearest chicks when Eddie Vedder said that at the concert.
The things you think of after the fact....

I may try to make the Montreal and Ottawa shows, maybe. Work is crazy right now, but I think that would be a Thursday and Friday night shows. I should have a better idea once September approaches. Are you going to the Philly show Dominic?
