View Full Version : Guess who called me today!?!?!

The fuckers that passed me up for that job I was supposed to get/was hired for.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That completely made my day to hear that bastard sound like he had his tail between his legs. The two people they hired because they couldn't wait for me quit, and they called me this morning and left a message to ask me back.
Jerkoffs, I ain't calling them worth a shit. Serves 'em right.

i agree with dominic. actually, this would put you in the proverbial 'cat bird seat' meaning, if they want you that bad, ask them what they'll offer you to make it worth your while....better pay? nicer schedule?
while what happened was disheartening and discouraging, this could truly work to your advantage... ;)

I'm with ardy and dominic on this one
I'd call back and ask for higher pay and better benefits or something along those lines
hell, it would be worth calling them back just to listen to the guy grovel

that's 4 that agree! See what they can do to entice you into giving it some thought. But, if you were to take the job, they would have to guarantee they were going to hold it for you. None of the shennanigan's bullshit they pulled last time.

make it 5
the place where you are now sucks a bigger one.
however,
1. they already proved they potentially will screw you, they already did
2. if the two people who they hired, quit, it may be about the working situation and not the workers.
i see some red flags, so proceed with caution.
if it was me, i would be looking for a new and different job.

I have to disagree with all of you on this one. Once I've been burned, I DO NOT forget and I will make that persons' life a living hell, if I have to see them/deal with them. I may be nice and tolerant, but once you fuck me over or get on my bad side...watch out. Just my nature once my horns have been twisted.
Doing what he did just shows me what kind of people they are and frankly, I don't want that in my life. They did it to me, and who knows how many others they might have done it to, or will do.
I'm not calling them back, period. They don't deserve my hard work and talent. They lost their shot.

After what they did, its a slap to call me back and ask again. After I had to give formal notice, then inconveince my boss to get a replacement, train her, and all of a sudden I have to go into my bosses office with egg on my face like an ass to tell her what happened? I'm supposed to be happy and jump that they called me back? Fuck that. It's all about respect and they didn't respect me from the beginning. If they did they should have told me from the very beginning that they needed me right away or they would have to go with someone else. Does anyone not see the logic in that, or is it just me? They chose to be pricks and toke me for a ride that wasted my time, and my employers time.
What the hell did they think I was gonna do? Leave my place of work and sit on my ass for three weeks by the phone and wait for them to call me back? That's bullshit.
They should have moved down their list. They deserve it.

you're missing something - you harped about how terrible your present job is/was - you were moving to that job because it was a better situation - it doesn't matter what sort of inconvenience it was for your present boss. first, you don't need to give any notice. second, if you want to stay in a shit job then do it...no skin off my nose - i was just giving you my opinion on the matter. finally, if you have the opportunity to get out of your present shit job but are not doing so just to spite someone then you really can't bitch about the job you're in now because you are the one that passed up the opportunity to get out of that job.

i doubt there's anyone here who can say they've never been burned, disrespected, hurt, whatever you wanna call it. but these are the life experiences we learn, grow and mature from. holding a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee.
accept it or move on. but understand that part of learning from a HUGE life experience such as this one is to remember that, in general, most people are good, not out to purposely hurt you. no one is expecting you to run right over there tomorrow and say, "here i am, put me to work!" sweet satisfaction can be gained by overlooking the past and remaining in control - whatever level of control that may mean to you, i.e., not calling them back at all; calling them back and thanking them for the consideration but declining; calling them back and asking how they may make this worth your interest.
ultimately it is your choice and decision and i respect that, so does everyone else, i'm thinking. perhaps some of us here have just been thru a similar situation where we slammed a door shut that we should've left open just a little bit longer.......

first off, i agree with you ards. we *rusted signs* have roads paved with slammed doors....as will all these *young whipper-snapper signs* by the time they get a little rusty ;)
but then, second off, like i said before....... one of the things i know to look for as a rusted sign are red flags and there are tons all over this particular job:
1. they already proved they potentially will screw you, they already did
2. if the two people who they hired, quit, it may be about the working situation and not the workers.
and thirdly, dominic..... i truly hope that was an attempt at a joke and not a dig at the resident jersey girls who visit here (considering our leader is about to marry one). if it was a joke, it was funny after i got over being shocked and the urge to send you a pm telling you to go f yourself ;) ....or do you mean every girl who came to west virginia from new jersey.... im confused :puzzled:.
and finally, cara...... dear, sweet cara. you hate your present job. you would rather drive thru the front window of your only current alternative then work there. hun, please..... have some faith in yourself.... a lil bit of confidence in your abilities..... AND FIND A NEW STINKING JOB!!!!!!!!!!
and then, every morning, as you are driving to your cool new job, you can pass by each of these loser employers and stick your hand outside your car window and wave to them, like a true jersey woman

it might be based out of WVU - it's hard to tell - the actual mountain stage is in charleston about two hours south of here, but the university has ties throughout the state with various things. there are two other universities here - marshall and fairmont state...i doubt it was either of those. who were you listened to on the mountain stage?
i am going to see kathleen edwards on the mountain stage this sunday - thanks to j.carwash :) thanks for that heads up. nickelcreek is gonna be there too.

i'm not sure who it was i was listening to. it was a group that i had heard of before, i remember that much....but not a group that stuck in this beehive of a head that i have. anywho, wherever they are based, they just renovated the stage, from what the announcer guy said. he said it was beautiful. but any stage with kathleen edwards on it will be beautiful! be prepaired to rock your socks off...unless you are wearing sandels and then you wont have socks so then you can rock sockless. :normal:

..............
I moved on when I got the call that they passed me up. They opened the wound by calling me back and all I could do was laugh. And nope, I still won't call them back. My parents, brother, family and close friends and my friends at work all were happy that I ignored them. So, I'm happy with my decision.
Yeah sure I'm wasting my talents where I at now and I don't like it there, but Im lucky that they took me back when they could have very well told me to leave and saying "tough shit, you gave notice." Some good did come out of this whole situation because my boss did hire the most wonderful person to take over for me, and now we're working together and things are actually pretty good right now *knock on keyboard*. My hopes came true and they hired an outside company to come in and clean the place up and bought more computers and scanners to take care of the upkeep once all the archives are scanned.
I'm on vacation next week so I've got the whole week to concentrate on looking elsewhere. Thank god, I'm blasted tired.

And look at what I started........ a thread that should have faded to the next page has over 30 responses. If you were a vindictive little fuck like me you would call back, make them squirm until they soiled their pants, make them promise you the world plus a luncheon date with Mike McCready, and then tell them thanks but you guys are such losers thay you'd rather listen to michael jackson 24/7 than work for such a buncha clowns (and ask remember to ask them how where they buy those funny ronald mcdonald shoes anyway).

Thanks for the suggestions Cecil, but having them desperate for help during graduation weekend, and the holiday weekend next week is good enough revenge for me. :)
And now I am going to focus on my upcoming week at home relaxing and having a home made dinner with my pals on Tuesday. :)
Anyone know of any good wines that would go with lemon pasta? I'm thinking a Pinot Noir, or maybe Pinot Grigio?
