when you buy/rent dvds, do you prefer full screen? wide screen? does it matter? and why......

but then the image is smaller with the black stripes cause it needs to fit the tv OR everybody gets totally tall and skinny, even Danny DeVito

Wide - is that not how the director intends it to be seen, or how it's originally filmed? Heard something about that, not too sure, though.

wide is how they've envisioned and set up the shot.
I saw a special on this not too long ago on Bravo I think,
the difference between wide screen and full screen is amazing.
You lose so much peripherally. When they edit, they will focus on the main characters or action only...everything else is gone.
They were showing the 2 different versions side by side....

We always love to watch films in the wide version. I don't like missing anything on the film.

That's what I thought. My friend is an actor and he's all about the wide screen.
