rising in pockets of water from under the sea
falling like rocks in the rain on the sand
a thump not a shatter heard from the earth
is it really earth when it is dressed
in the erosion waste of ocean water
questions for the man of tomorrow
bothering me today
wondering if i will ever see you again
or even touch your smile
you saved it for so long and you left
i am glad no one ever says goodbye
it makes me think you will come back
rising in pockets of water from under the sea

would you ask for an umbrella from me
or would I simply walk by and hand you one
sometimes I ponder the simplicity of life
sharing rain and touching smiles
