Rockers wrapping new album, readying tour

Pearl Jam are almost finished with their follow-up to 2002's Riot Act. The band plans to spend the next three weeks in the studio recording vocals and mixing. If all goes according to plan, the yet-to-be-titled disc could be released as early as May.
"There's a lot more up-tempo stuff," says drummer Matt Cameron. "It's a lot more rockin' than our last one." Song titles like "Severed Hand," "Worldwide Suicide" and "2x4" seem to reflect that harder edge. Though the track listing has not been finalized, other candidates include "Marker" and "Cold Concession."

Cameron, who teamed with guitarist Mike McCready on the track "Unemployable," characterizes the sessions as more collaborative. "We reworked everything together in the studio," he says. "It's a really healthy environment -- everyone really just wants to dig in and make the songs as good as they can be."

Pearl Jam hope to support the new record with a summer tour.

i am not a fan of some of those song titles - seems more like a darkwave band than my band

yeah, if i didn't know that some great things have happened in the guys personal lives in the last year, those titles would be a bit more disturbing for me too

"Cold Cecession" makes me think of that Bush song "Cold Contagious"...

i'll agree that the song titles are a bit different, but i guess we'll have to see. "Riot Act" had some strange titles too, "Bu$hleaguer," "Cropduster," "help, help," etc. .... so you never know

yeah, this is my first, gut reaction to them...in the end, it doesn't matter if it's called "bag of shit" - if the music and melody are good then i'll dig the hell out of it.

worldwide suicide is sort of catchy - i wonder if the titles are indicative of a chorus or a concept -

Im really excited for this, but bumming that I put in for my vacation ALREADY! Crap! I knew that would happen!

well if you knew the band at all you would know that ed was making his baby a crib and didnt have a MARKER so he messed up cutting th 2x4 and SEVERED his hand..

he went to a local COLD CONCESSION stand and put it on ice, but when he got to the ER it was too late, now he is UNEMPLOYABLE and he wishes the WORLDwould just have a big mass SUICIDE...

so it is really quite in tune with their year

I think this is going to be a really great year for new music. With new material coming out from Pearl Jam, NIN, Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Matthews, and many more I am forgetting, this should be a really exciting 2005 for new albums and tours. I am ready for it!!! :cool:
