is it bad to eat too much soy? edamame (for those who do not know, lightly salted soy beans still in chute) specifically? i think that it is the sea salt that i sprinkle on them but lately i have been addicted to them. seriously. like having gone through a bag a day for the past 8 days. i know there are some health conscious people on here and am wondering if anyone knows if there are any risks to continuing my edamame binge?

hmmm. grey gas? are you referring to human gas that might come out of my edamame loving ass? well, if so, I don't live in the pearl and furthermore my gas smells like roses mixed with the feeling of being young again. zing!

thanks friend. i tried googling but everything i found (like www.edamame.com - yes there is a website for everything) was tied to the soy industry in some fashion and they obviously would be biased. this helps, thank you. chris, if you're still out there, i'd love to hear if you have any input as it seems our stomachs have some things in common....

I actually have no idea. There is a nutritionist on the board of trustees (ccfa), so when I see her, i'll ask her...

cool, if you remember. if not, no big deal. I haven't noticed anything with the soy messing me up (yet) but I'm always curious about long term benefits or risks. thanks dood.

actually, i have heard something....but i cant remember what it is. how bout going to a healthfood store and asking them. i think i heard about it from my midwife who is really into herbs and natural remidies.

if you were moygirl, i would say it would help you to not get breast or ovarian cancer.

anywho, it all comes down to what yer momma said...too much of a good thing aint so good..... those mommas....how wise ;)

yeah, thank you, that kind of statement is what I was basing my concerns on and around. i feel good and it doesn't seem to effect me immediately, but like you said, there is the theory of "moderation" that I haven't exactly been applying...

hey guys... hope all is well...

I couldn't help but put my 2 cents in here... my uncle is a homeopathic doctor and warns against soy, so I did some research and came up with these sites:

http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/#

http://www.soyonlineservice.co.nz

http://thyroid.about.com/cs/soyinfo/a/soy.htm

after I read some of this stuff, I was ready to throw away all my veggie burgers in the freezer! be healthy, be wary, everything in moderation...

they always give us plates of those at the sushi house

I love them

my girlfriend buys them for her kids as a snack

soy makes you fart smelly

i'm sure if you looked up the effects of five bags of doritos you'd find a horror story

i go on green bean binges

i seem to be having disjointed thoughts

perhaps a little brain damage is involved

:)
