Sad sad news. :(

I heard about this over the weekend on NJ 101.5. A car was involved in a tanker crash in Ft. Laurderdale killing a couple from Cherry Hill NJ. I was flipping through the newspaper just now and saw an article that said "Mother of NHL Star dies in car crash." I read into it, and one of the victims was Gloria Halpern, mother of Washington Caps player Jeff Halpern.

The crash happened on Friday night when a fuel tanker flipped over and struck the car. Halpern, her brother and sister and law, and another passenger were killed. The driver and the passenger of the truck managed to get out and run to a nearby pond in flames. The fuel fire was hot enough to melt a steel guard rail on the highway ramp.

This looks like it can get even more messy though. The driver has had atleast 10 traffic violations since 2002. A witness says that the tanker cut her off and was speeding in the ramp before it toppeled.

Very sad indeed. My thoughts to Jeff and his family. :(

Yeah, I heard about this yesterday Cara. Very sad news. Speaking of hockey, when is Gary Bettman going to crawl out from under his rock and announce the season is cancelled?

Tell me about it Jake... they're all tools. And Bettman and Goodenow are the biggest tools of them all. Everyone involved are tools. :(

If hockey wasnt dead in this country before this lock out, it'll be dead now.

Im so depressed. :(

actually, and sadly, they should go strictly Canadian. though the money won't be there, I think it'll be nearly impossible for them to crawl out of the hole that they have dug. They've been sliding down it for awhile.

The difference between coming back from this lockout and what baseball had awhile back ago is that there is still high market for it. Hockey has nearly nothing. Unless it's the skills challenge of the all star game or a game 7 of a nail biter, it's just not a big sport...

I miss watching "Hockey Night in Canada"....I used to hate Don Cherry, but now I know why so many people loved him...he bled hockey and that was all

You've got a good point Jake, but with all the Canadian teams practically bankrupt it wouldn't last.

Over expansion was done to get more fans into the leauge and more popular, but it really didn't do anything. Hockey has no tv contract and in the last few years its gone between ABC and FOX and to be honest their coverage SUCKED and didn't pick up unless it was the SCF's.

I hardly ever watched a game on those channels unless it was a SCF or SCP game, or the All-Star game. I always stuck with FSN or MSG.

I logged on to Comcast before and there was a header that read "NHL and players breaking some ground on lockout." Haven't read it, or the story in the paper yet, but I'll understand more after I read it.

Its plain and simple, hockey needs airtime to survive, and they just won't get it. This lock out did its damage.

I'm really bumming. I have nothing to watch anymore and Im sad. Seriously, lol. I need some hockey.

I'll take 28 over nothing.
