so, i was so nervous all day, although i had a great dream last night with foreshadowded this win. had all kinds of muchies here but couldnt even eat. i was worried up until 3 minutes left. our buddy, mark, was at the game and kept calling us. we were nuts, they were nuts, my neighbors are nuts, philly is nuts.


there is this fan who calls in to the sports talk radio station - arson arnie is his name - anyway, he summed it up this week by saying - when i hear freddie mercury singing, i want everyone to know that he is singing that song for me, for MY team, for MY city !!!!!!!!! and, tonight, he is singing that song for us!!!!!

its a really awesome time in this area these days. the kids schools are all playing the eagles fight song after the pledge. people are going nuts over the championship clothing. people are making plans to go to flordia even if they dont have tickets.

and the players are just respecting the fans so much. i mean, you know, the players are awesome and i love em all. but so many of us fans have been super hellin' fans for such a long time, generations really. and the guys are so aware of that and thanking us at every turn. i think that makes me the happiest, you know. that this year, they get it. they just get me and my ilk....those of us who cant get to the games but still cheer the franchise and the history in our jerseys with our car flags, teaching the fight song to our kids, naming our dogs/cats/fish/kids donovan, freak, big red.....

its just one big fuckin' love fest here :D

i just wish my neighbor bill was still sittin with his buddies next door, enjoying the whole thing.

and, thats another thing that everyone is talking about. when they scored that last touchdown with 3+ minutes to go, and we all knew it was going to happen.... it was incredible and then when that personal joy thing ended a few seconds later, all everyone wanted to do was call someone close to them and share it. margie called me from london (she was watching the game there), i called my brother and his kids, our friend mark called us from the game..... we all couldnt be together because of the snow, but we all were together via the phone. just sharing that feeling.

its a hard thing to describe. but its that feeling, that feeling that this awesomely great thing is going to happen to you...something you invested so much in....

i don't so much dislike the teams as much as their fans. when we were in boston for the pj shows, they were just all so obnoxious. perhaps if i met a boston fan that wasn't rude, my opinion would change.

nah, of course i draw the line at physical abuse. im talking trash talk, cara....im talking shouting E-A-G-L-E-S from the rooftops, the bridges, the radio and the tv sets of the nation, im talking leigons of children singing the fightsong at the start of school, im talkin gitten respect for my town, my peeps, the d, the o and the t.o., im talkin turning jacksonville into phillyville, im talkin the pride of generations of people willing to wear green hair, green facepaint, green teeshirts, green socks, green thongs just to walk around town on sundays, im talking pride, im talking about IT, im talkin about sitting back and watching the hoopla about the dynasty and proudly and loudly watching it crumble under a wave of green and silver and philly.
