chris, tell me more about keane - i would love to see the shins and the killers -Keane is cool. They have piano (ala Chris Martin/Coldplay), but not really because the singer does not play piano. It's not quite pop. And it's not quite indie. But when in the right mood, great to listen to...

Snow Patrol - I only wish I could have seen more. I assume they went on right at 6pm because we got there about 6:15 and I only heard about 5 songs. They did, however, sound great! The bass as a little heavy, but that is normal for Key Arena. If you guys like good indie-pop, I highly suggest picking up Final Straw, SP's latest album.

Keane - After seeing them live I have to change my comparison from Coldplay to Queen and Freddy Mercury. The singer was all over the stage dancing around and having fun. They have so much talent...great voice...great piano. I said above, if in the right mood, great to listen to. But I think the more I listen, the more I have to say they're a modern day Air Supply. Cheezy cliched lyrics overpowered a wonderfully talented and great sounding set.

The Shins - Of all the bands last night, I wanted a longer set from this amazing Sub Pop group more than the others. All I can say is go pick up Shutes to Narrow and Oh, Inverted World RIGHT NOW!! And go see them after you do. You'll thank me in the morning...

The Killers** - I hate their first single. CAN NOT STAND IT. I heard from people that the rest of their album was better. I'm sure it is better (and some songs sounded OK), but I'm not a big fan. ESPECIALLY when you put them up side by side with the band they get 'compared' to often. Which leads me to...

Franz Ferdinand - I really dig their album. But I'll be honest, I can only listen to it once in a while. However, they put on an amazing live performance! The lead guitarist jumps around on the stage so much and somehow keeps his hands moving on his guitar. The energy they fed to the crowd was unmatched last night. They sounded tight, clear and full of spunk! :) Thumbs up!

Modest Mouse - Being from the great PacNW, Modest Mouse has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Interesting sounds, song arrangments and lyrics always kept me interested and those of you who have more than one album know they can make some really beautiful music as well. However, because of the complexity of the music they are and always will be (or should be) a 'club band'. I was not expecting a very good set from them at the Key Arena last night...and I was right. There were some bright spots, but overall the set was not good. They're not known for being stellar live and last night was no different. I look forward to seeing them again at the Showbox or Paramount in the future.

**Although they sounded really good (they're talented), I just don't like their songs. See partial lyrics here...

The Killers - Indie Rock & Roll
one verse and the chorus

Stay if you wanna love me, stay
Oh don't be shy, let's cause a scene
Like lovers do on silver screens
Let's make it yeah, we'll cause a scene

It's Indie rock'n'roll for me
It's Indie rock'n'roll for me
It's all I need
It's Indie rock'n'roll for me

The Killers - All These Things That I've Done
just the chorus

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier

:P Oh well...All in all, great night. :)

i dig that 'somebody told me' song by the killers. it's catchy, and kinda newish. a toe tapper. a tad better than most of what's out there now.

chris, you ever thought of becoming a journalist?
you know, writing reviews of concerts and stuff?
good recaps...as always ;)
