We had fun with this one at Synergy last night so I thought I'd bring it round for ya'll as well /images/laugh.gif

Okay, I have NO idea where that title came from but it sounded good so I went with it. Shit, I bet more than half of you on here probably don't even remember Joan Jett but I do. Oh yes 7th grade ... "I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL"... Kick ass. Let's see, what else do I remember from 7th grade... hmmmmm....when I think of 7th grade, I think of Jr. High dances... dances were fun. Girls on one side of the floor, boys on the other, all looking so "cool" playing air guitar to Journey and Loverboy... Ohhhh... I remember Olivia Newton John "Let's Get Physical" and Billy Squire "Stroke"... man, i remember my 13th birthday slumber party and we were getting ready to go to a dance... we're singing that song, and my mom just about had a caniption over the lyrics ..."what's he saying? what does that mean.. stroke me?... do the stroke? is that a dance (ala The Twist or The Mash Potato)?" Settle down, ma... not a big deal, we just like the way it sounds. I remember at one dance, some guy from my class "dedicated" the song "Waiting For a Girl Like You" by......drawing a blank here............REO? no......FOREIGNER...yeah, Foreigner. Anyway, this guy dedicated that song to another guy who the guys always teased, and we thought it was sooooooooo funny, but it was really pretty stupid. ah well.

Rainbows were a big thing then, and so were knickers, and V-BACK sweaters. One time my best friend and I dressed (willingly) as twins in our rainbow shirts and denim knickers, and we wore our hair in tiny braids all over our heads. Good lord, I wish I had a picture of that. hmmmmmm.... PAC MAN FEVER.... it's driving me crazy! hehe.... and The Go-Go's were the shit back then too. I got my first subscription to Seventeen magazine for my 13th birthday and guess who my fave model was? Whitney Houston. That was in the pre-diva days.
I bought my first 45 album in 7th grade, I think it was something by the Human League, but I can't be certain anymore. It might have been Flock of Seagulls "I Ran".. but I seem to recall that one from 8th grade somehow. The only way I can keep track of what happened what year is by remembering where in the hallway my locker was. Isn't it funny the tricks we rely on to help us remember things? Here is something I will never forget: "1754, the French and Indian War" ...too bad that happened when I was a senior and not in 7th grade because it doesn't really fit in this post, but that's the way the mind flows, or at least the way mine does.

your 7th grade memories are great! my dances were back when rap started to get popular..we danced to OPP, which eventually got banned...and the likes of TLC, tone loc, MC hammer...it was little kids dancing the way kids shouldn't be...although i would like to dance like that again someday! /images/tongue.gif

Nintendo was big...legend of zelda and double dribble...converse all stars, rolled jeans...college hats and turtle necks...boy oh boy, now cool the turtle necks were!

I believe I am the same age as you 13 and holy shit those brought back some memories! Remember break dancing? THE CATERPILLAR? LOL! People laying on their stomachs basically convulsing on the ground... I remember having a party at my house when I was 13 (!) and a group of guys layed out a old cardboard box, pulled a car up so the headlights would shine on them and began BREAKDANCING in my front yard... what did my neighbors think? Guys spinning on their backs, oh how horrendous! I sure hope the style of the early eighties NEVER return! Wearing those dancer warm-up socks over your pants...what a pretty sight. Wham (think of "Wake me Up Before You GO GO!") shirts... these were shirts that said just one huge word, that really had no meaning, other to have a great big word on your chest. I actually wore a Wham short that said PINK (oh yeah!) and that day I developed pink eye... what are the chances of that?

haha...oh yeah, I remembered the legwarmer thing, but that happened in 8th grade, I think, so I didn't mention it... that was right after Flashdance was the big hit... I can't remember what color mine were... but how STUPID! We all thought we were so cool with those dumb things over our JEANS!!! I never had one of those WHAM shirts, but I remember them... yikes.

I'm 32 and graduated in 87... how bout you?

Scott Weber...
Nsync...
Talking about perverted stuff with my girlfreinds at the lunch table like I still do today...
Discovering Soundgarden......best moment of my entire life
Meeting Justin from Nsync....doesn't seen that important anymore though
A lot of other things too....

I remember it like it was two years ago.........maybe that's because it was though.......

sheesh, 7th grade was really weird for me.
I had knee surgery late that summer so when school started I was just able to get up on crutches.
I tried to go to school but it was difficult...I needed an aide....I was on painkillers part of the time....
I ended up having to have a tutor at home.
Spent my days watching old reruns on tv...Leave it to Beaver...Little Rascals...
I started the second nine weeks at school and by then everyone seemed to know what they were doing, where they were going...
I was lost.
well, I got through it...but it sucked.
I remember a guy wore a shirt advertising some sort of headphones that said " eargasm" ... It totally intrigued me..... !!
as for music..that was late 70s so the whole rock vs disco was going on....
Fleetwood Mac Rumors was cool.....Peter Frampton too.... I was soooo into my music :)
