they are a very talented group of (local) boys. they really do have a unique sound that covers a variety of genres. some of their stuff can be somewhat 'abrasive' but this album is defenately one of their most approachable. :)

cool

at the time, i was looking for alicia keys for em and evenence (or whatever) for liv

i have this college-punk-garagetype (out of princeton) station on my car setting and today i was listening to it cause i heard actual words and harmonious chord progressions....not just reverb and yelling. it was nice :D

why did i think modest mouse was a chick group?

i guess i should caution the grammar police that this post has many spelling errors :square:

I haven't heard this yet but my son just got it so I'll prolly swipe it from him and take a lesson

oh and Cath, download the song "wild pack of family dogs" it's off of an older album but it's one of those tunes that I swear that everytime I see a loose dog(and sometimes even when I don't) I automatically start singing "a wild pack of family dogs went running thru the yard"

haven't heard the new album yet

their music is definitely "mood" music though.. as in, you have to be in the right mood to enjoy it. for me, anyway.

isaac brock went to my high school, so he's a big name in my little town. well, he'd be a big name if anyone knew who he was. that kind of thing. i'm pretty sure that jeremiah green (the drummer) went there too. everyone always says "did you know that modest mouse went to issaquah high school?"... but i think that they've had a couple member changes since those days. anyways, enough tooting of that horn

I bought this album yesterday out of curiosity... and holy shit it is fantastic. I think I'm gonna have to get some of their other albums now.

I like the Pixies/Tom Waits feel.

the song that is on the video circuit right now sounds like a song i have heard before - i never have been able to get into them...maybe i need to just discover it some time without trying too hard - maybe next time

not to be overly sappy but the lyrics for float on make me feel good.

Ain't that the truth. I was listening to the Doves today and had the same feeling.

I just listened to this new Modest Mouse and quite enjoy it. Float On is superb, no doubt about that. The Moon and Antarctica and The Lonesome Crowded West are supposed to be amazing, aren't they?

It's marchable, singalongable and kickassable. I agree. With NON-SAPPY ACTION!

New Modest Mouse. I HIGHLY recommend! One of their best... :)okay, so - i got this album at some point, but it was one of the ones that katie got her hands on - that could mean one of two things, (1) she liked it and took it and it's now ruined because she doesn't know how to take care of anything, or (2) she knew i liked it, so she broke it...

anyway, today, i was downstairs playing tiger woods PGA tour golf 2004 (i'm the best by the way) and my roommate had his ipod hooked up to his receiver and it was thumpin all over the place...this album comes on and i remembered how much i liked it...the ending of the album is so strong...just wanted to say that.

carry on.

blame it on the tetons is the standout for me...today...one chance is great too...and black cadillacs...oh shit...
